I'm asking this question because Duff used the MIJ Jazz Bass Special which served as a template for his signature Precision Bass.

I guess he has a couple of Power Special Jazzes with reverse split pickups, active EQ and 22 frets, some being CS recreations of the Japanese originals.

Yeah I'm not sure....last week I came across a recent interview with Duff online where he said that he has his MIJ 80's Jazz special, a couple of Duff Signature models, a couple of aerodyne basses & a few Custom shop basses.....he didn't get into their set up but in the photo provided with the interview he's playing a Black Jazz special...I tried to find the interview again to see if there's anything I missed but I can't find it , but you could see parcial photos of the Black Custom Jazz Special here:
www.duffmckagans-rawpower.com/equipment.php these black basses are definately not Aerodyne's...though I've seen photos & videos of him playing an Aerodyne,......I only came across some of these articles because I'm considering getting a Precision with a P/J set up to complete my arsenal & was thinking of getting a Duff Bass because of the P/J set up, Percision body & Jazz neck combo....& the relatively nice price :)
Or I might dole out some extra cash & go with a currant model Black American Deluxe Precision Bass with Maple neck.........I was also looking at the Aerodyne because I prefer Jazz basses & Jazz necks.......but I believe the Aerodyne has a Basswood body.......like Duff's original Jazz special but the new versions made in Mexico have American cut Alder bodies.......I'm a fan Alder bodies..... :D

This Aerodyne I'm talking about is not a real Aerodyne, it's a Frank Bello signature Jazz Bass which had a Duncan SPB3 quarterpounder in the neck, a Fender SCN Jazz pickup in the bridge, Schaller Lite-Bass tuners, a LeoQuan BadAsss II high-mass bridge, master volume and tone controls. This bass features a drop D tuner and was used on certain songs (Superhuman, Headspace).

Yeah I know the Frank Bello model....thought it was a cool looking bass & nice set up too.....why did Fender recently discontinue it & replace it with a Squier version???? :?

The FB bass has 2 volume controls and no tone control. I don't know why they would say Aerodyne on Duff McKagan's RAW POWER site except for not wanting to say it's a Frank Bello signature. Maybe Fender will bring it back as a Duff McKagan Signature bass.

It may be a custom modified aerodyne bass made for Duff.. as this bass does have an Aerodyne body.

You're right, the Frank Bello signature has an Aerodyne body except it's made of alder instead of basswood and is solid. When you compare the two basses they look exactly the same but I wonder if Duff's has a Jazz neck like the Aerodyne Jazz or his Pearl White Jazz Special.
My ideal bass today would be a mix of these two basses :
Aerodyne Jazz MIJ with solid alder body
Aerodyne Jazz MIJ maple neck with black rosewood fingerboard
Leo Quan Badass III bridge
SPB-3 Quarter Pound & STK-J2 pickups
2 Volume Controls & 1 Master Tone Control
Hipshot BT10 Drop D Extender Key
