I have a white guard on mine. I don't like the tortoise guard on colors except for white maybe Blond. All my custom color basses have white guards except my white one. It is kinda the Fender standard. I think unless it was custom ordered tortoise was used on White & Fiesta Red at least in the 60's. Here's part of my collection I've added a few others since the end of the summer but this photo was taken in August. By the way; the white ones a '66 the black & LPBlue '69, CAR '73 Firemist Silver & Firemist Gold are '72s. The Black & CAR are VG, the Silver & Gold are excellent & The white & LPBlue ones are near mint. The Lake Placid Blue one is a time capsule looks factory new no yellowing with a super clean case & ALL the candy! Oh yeah it plays greaty to & is played not like the first 40+ years of it's existance

Wow BP those are some great basses to have. Quite an investment. I'd love to play the 66 White bass. How is it on weight? How's the wieght on the other ones? Just curious. My 74 is around 9 lbs maybe a little less and my 72 Jazz is a little less than that. That is one killer collection of basses you have there.

The '66 white plays great has a "C" neck with that mid 1960's radius. It almost plays itself. The Blue '69 has a great "B" neck. I play these 2 quite often but at home. I don't take them out for band practice or gigs. The black one goes out the most as well as the gold one. The gold one has an "A" which I really like the jazz size without binding. None of these basses are terribly heavy. I think the maple neck basses are a bit heavier than any of the 1960's rosewood neck basses but they are not post 1975 boat anchors. Maybe I can get some acutrate measurements & report back. My niece has an acurate baby scale.

Here's my weights done on a perfect acurate 1960's baby scale.
1966 Olympic White 9lb 1oz
1969 Black 9lb 6oz
1969 Lake Placid Blue 9lb 0oz
1972 Firemist Silver 9lb 4oz
1972 Firemist Gold 9lb 2oz
1973 Candy Apple Red 9lb 6oz
1973 Sunburst Fretless (not in photo) 8lb 8oz
Unusual how same years differ so much look at the 2 1973 models! Anyway none are over 9 1/2 pounds no 10 pound boat anchors.

Why no clear or tinted Fender Precisions?

Do you mean natural & blond or sunburst? have a '73 sunburst that just didn't make it into the photo (purchased it when the weather turned too cold). I'd like to get a blond P. Natural doesn't appeal to me too much.

Where is purple?

Fender needs a deep purple Precision and a dark blue Jazz.

closest I'd get to PURPLE would be Burgundy Mist. I am waiting on a 1990's Japnese mini bass in Burgundy Mist. VERY RARE item. In the early 1990's Japan made Mini Teles, Strats & P Basses. The Teles & Strats show up now & then. Sometimes in Custom Colors. The P Basses are rarely ever show up in any color normally appear in 2 or 3 tone burst so this Burgundy Mist mini P Bass is super rare. On it's way from Japan as we speak. Should be here soon. I will take a photo of a normal P Bass my Torino Red P Bass Junior & the Japanese Mini P Bass so you can get an idea of the size. It is the shortest scale bass fender makes. Shorter than the Mustang or Junior!

Burgundy is a region of France or a wine. Purple is a Bass color.

Let's see some color vibrancy!
