My personal favorite is transparent blue. That being said, I'd gladly go for a violin burst or walnut, I mean, who wouldn't?

This is not a real transparent blue colour, it's that blueburst finish which looks classy on the ash veneers. Blueburst was offered as an option on the Plus series basses made between 1989 and 1994. Fender decided to keep Blueburst for the American Deluxe basses for about 3 years before dropping the finish from their colour chart in 1998.

In that case, my personal favorite is now blueburst. Thanks for the correction, good to know what the finish is actually called. ^^

Candy Cola is my favorite. At least on a Precision.

Fender Blonde, Fender Candy Apple Red, 3-Color Sunburst, Sunset Orange Transparent, Olympic White, Lake Placid Blue, Fiesta Red and on newer things Vintage White. The Walnut and Violin finishes pictured on this thread are awesome also!

I think a complimentary pickguard makes or breaks the overall color impact also. Those chunky confetti tort pickguards in the late 60's/early 70's looked much better on sunburst than anything being used stock or available aftermarket today. Now that was a gorgeous bass. Pretty sure the EPA makes those guards illegal to make now and the Reissue guards just don't capture the same effect. Big yellow chunks rock!

Well I love the Natural finish on my 2011 American Deluxe Jazz Bass 5 string & the natural finish on my Marcus Miller Bass..........I also love the Blues Sparkle finish on my Steve Harris P Bass....just beautiful. :)
I should also mention that the Select Jazz Bass with Flame Maple top & Amber-Burst gloss lacquer finish is truely striking!!......

Anything that doesn't look like it came off or a late model Buick or Lexus automobile.

I think the only color I don't like is that wine red color-- yuk- no one has posted that they like it either. I saw a Yellow P bass from the factory once- I liked it then.

I had a Vintage White Precision, several years ago, that had a bit more of a yellowish tint than most Vintage White.

I found the best playing basses I have are my 1969 Lake Placid Blue P with a rosewood board & my 1972 Firemist Gold maple "A" neck P. My favorite color is LP Blue so I got the best playing in my fav color. The '72 gold one is nice too. Photos to follow this weekend

I'm building up a P-bass and am planning to have it finished in Lake Placid Blue. What colour pickguard do you have? I'm planning a vintage tortoise. http://www.ebay.com/itm/290571580598?ss ... 1423.l2648

I'd really like to have a vintage white P bass. I might just have the black one I put together painted that color. Antique white looks good with a maple neck. SWEEEET !!!

I have a white guard on mine. I don't like the tortoise guard on colors except for white maybe Blond. All my custom color basses have white guards except my white one. It is kinda the Fender standard. I think unless it was custom ordered tortoise was used on White & Fiesta Red at least in the 60's. Here's part of my collection I've added a few others since the end of the summer but this photo was taken in August. By the way; the white ones a '66 the black & LPBlue '69, CAR '73 Firemist Silver & Firemist Gold are '72s. The Black & CAR are VG, the Silver & Gold are excellent & The white & LPBlue ones are near mint. The Lake Placid Blue one is a time capsule looks factory new no yellowing with a super clean case & ALL the candy! Oh yeah it plays greaty to & is played not like the first 40+ years of it's existance
