order a body from Warmouth and have them hook you up. It probubly will cost a bit.

I think a single coil in the neck position,, a P in the middle position and a Jazz in the bridge position - then all wired so nothing makes any noise---slap in a 5 way switch with a push pull pot so one can get every combo with the pickups-- two volumes/ one tone pot-- 22 cap or a 5 or both with a switch (mini)- alder body, maple Jazz or P neck-- vintage tuners- Surf green- shell white Pickguard- strap locks- string thru bridge/topload-- chrome hrdwre-- bone mastadon nut-- call it the Stroker Vance Signature bass. I hope no one thinks I'm insane but that would be my idea of a cool bass. Did I leave anything out of the build? Oh yeh... the "Stroke" decal in Fender faunt. SWEEEEEET!!!!!!!

Surf green with white pick guard. Awesome. Far out, groovy, etc. Why don't you just start making and selling these unique basses, Stroker, or does that make me insane?

To "stoker" I think everything you said was awesome especially the green color. But tell me what would the 22 or 5 capacitor do to the sound? I already have 2 single coils, one vintage and one hot, seymore duncan's. Now I need a humbucker but I'm not sure if the pick ups in the modern player tele are humbuckers or singles. Give me some info this.

Uh, kitdrums, I hate to be the one to have to point this out but you left out the phrase "does this make me insane" in your post. I thought you were going to slip it in at the end there but was sorely disappointed that you didn't.

OK rmosele, you need to explain it to me about your reaction. One pick up I bought myself and the other was given to me. I just want to use it all. I figure a humbucker might help to improve the sound. Iwould like to get as much sound as I can. But "stoker" idea sounds much better so I can change my mind thank you.

Chill out a little, no a lot. My comments have nothing to do with what you want to do with your pickups and bass. It's just that every comment in the thread mentioned "I hope this doesn't make me insane" somewhere in it. It's called humor. I will remember to not attempt that with you forevermore.

Mixing humbuckers and singlecoils can be done. It will work with the strat selector switch.

To rmosele: I wasn't stressing its just that I don't want to make any mistakes if I am going to shell some money out and things are not compatible. As you can see I'm quite green as well as my future bass will be.

To Brotherdave: Thanks very much for the wiring diagram. When I get the funds together and put it together, I will post a picture of it. I hope to have it by the new year.

There is also a multi-position toggle called a "FREE-WAY PICKUP SWITCH" that will work instead of the Strat blade switch. It was the Jimmy Page switch on his Les Paul. It is a six-position switch that works sort of like a floor shifter on a car. It pivots. I used one a while back on an active only to active/passive conversion on a 2 pickup bass. It works but feels a bit flimsy in function. But like I said it works. And it is easier to drill one hole than slot a pickguard for a blade switch. Stewmac.com carries them.

They look like this:

You've got it on the money B Dave. The Stroke bass could be a definate possibility. There are similar sig basses to the Stroke but what would be good is that it would be a p (actual) body. One should get the pitch fork out for the body and try to get a piece of wood (alder) that isn't too heavy to begin with. Once you put in the p.u.'s and the rest of the parts it could make it a bit heavy. That would be my first thoughts on it. Second thought would be that it maybe wouldn't have any neck dive. That would be real nice.

on the caps--- you could switch in between the two caps for different amounts of treble roll off on the fly. It is not a requierment but just a neat little ditty to add for coolness insane sake.

Yes Stroke that is a very VERY pretty bass!

I don't think the electronics would really add that much weight, maybe four ounces for the added pickup. The Free Way switch is not really heavy at all, maybe an ounce. Caps weigh next to nothing. And yes I have my A=440 fork in the dash of the car.
