A few months ago (Late August) I bought a MIM P-Bass, sunburst for $650 (including taxes) and I've recently stopped playing bass on the level of needing a beautiful bass like that (I play guitar in a Jazz band and guitar in a Punk-Rock/Alt Band). It has no modifications and one nick on the back of the body which is only noticeable if you really search for it. How much would I be able to sell it 2nd hand for?

See what ones in comparable condition have sold for on e-Bay.

I really don't want to be a wet blanket here, but the MIMs usually sell for about half what you paid for them on e-bay.

If it's in excellent condition, you might get between $300-$400...
Closer to $400 if you include the case...

You could try Craig's List, but no one seems to have any money or is actively buying these days. You might get $300-$350 there.
Unless you live in a very opulent area.

The MIMs are nice basses, but they don't tend to have the resale values of the MIAs or even MIJs.

I have all 3, and they are all great, but I got my MIM quite a while ago, and the sales prices haven't gone up since then.

If it's really nice, you might just want to hang on to it.

I agree 100%-- but where I live --craigslist blows. The only way to get rid of a bass is give it away and that's what they expect. I can't sell an 08 jazz mint for 650. Can you believe that! ???

If you really need to sell it you are going to take a beating. There is a glut of used ones on the market right now. I had a beautiful one I sold on eBay just before Christmas 2009 and it only brought $325. Not a mark on it in vintage white with new strings on it and a great setup. I cried on the way home from the UPS agent. That was the last bass I am going to sell for a while. I checked the used listings on Guitar Center dot com and it seems I got about the right amount. There are some on there for $275. EEK!

Around here the market for anything over 500 went down the tubes way before last summer. Could be the mentally imposed economy.

Same most places from what I've seen and heard.

It could be the actual economy.

2012 is coming brother!

I agree with you on the former, but while Bush, s*cked, it's been 3 years of B.H.O. and he's killing us.

That's why CL does not yield any results.

I feel your pain! :(
