Black pickguard, black body, rosewood neck. That's how I have mine and I love it.

Wow, what a loaded question...honestly, I really can't pick one.
P basses look so good in so many different color combo's that I'm stumped.

Black body, black pickguard, ebony fretboard, and black hardware. I am currently converting my Mike Dirnt Fender to this color layout.

Sonic blue body, maple fingerboard, white pearl/black/white pearl (or just plain 1-layer white) pickguard, and white pickup covers. This also would look cool with other blue-variant colors like Lake Placid Blue or Ice Blue Metallic. Alas, Fender isn't currently offering such a beast in either a P-bass or a J-bass, or I would have bought one already!

Sunburst, gold anodized pickguard, P/J pickup combo and maple J-neck. That's what I have.

I'd have to agree. Although, to be more specific, for my money there's nothing better than the three tone sunburst. When it comes down to brass tacks, the only reason I bought the P that I have was the feel and tone. Which happen to be Shoreline Gold, Rosewood, White Pearl. I've always wanted to change the pick-guard, but it's a US Deluxe and would need a custom cut, so I haven't as of yet. I think it would look a lot better with a tortoise or maybe black. Until then I'll spend my money on more gear!

Black body, gold PG, rosewood neck
or...
Black body, b/w/b PG, and non-flamed maple neck

Chrome hardware for both.
