When I originally dun did this I thought I'd get a bigger response but no. That's okay -- at least I yelled from the Mountain down into the valley - my praises to the good stuff along with a couple fellow yellers.

Yes to almost all the above. I had a very bad experience with GK. Don't feel bad about little response, there is little response to every topic lately.

Nope - none of the above...

MIM....P and J basses only for me personally - better fit and finish than any of the American versions that I have inspected in my two primary 'home' states.

GHS M3050 45-105 flatwounds exclusively.

Fender high wattage combos and one Peavey combo at the moment... best that I have tested thus far and I've been doing this since 1963.

No GK dealers within a reasonable travel distance, so I haven't inspected or tested any.

And no comments on the rest of the list for now... low on my priority list.

OH MY-- You need some work! Likes and dislikes are natural. But Jaco? Oh boy.

I met Jaco through Dean Noel in his first band. Jaco was ok, I never really cared for his style. A lot of others did, and he did ok with it. Dean did help him to de-fret his bass. No one else could have thought of, just pull them out with pliers.

I think he did okay. He ended up in Weather Report and toured the World behind hit music. He played with everyone in the bigs, on their records, such as Joni Mitchell where he played some of the best Jazz bass ever recorded. That's only one example. He also had a solo career. But in the end we all know what happened. He's far removed now as time has passed and is somehow disregarded maybe because there wasn't longevity involved and that his story ends so negatively. That's all sad. Too bad.... I saw him in a club right before his first solo album came out . He sat in with Wayne Cochran ( who's band he played in before that) and proceeded to blow the place apart. That was definitely okay. Jaco changed bass guitar even if you're (people) not into Jazz. It's that simple and okay!!!!

The only people who criticized Jaco are those who never listened to him.

well to me it's not so much the criticizing . People have their right to opinions. Music is all about opinions. I look at it as music appreciation. I grew up on Elvis then the Beatles and the music of the 60's and 70's. Music took a dump in the 80's even though some great stuff was done then. See- that's my opinion. More opinion- music now-a-days is defined in all different manner. You have so many off shoots of the off shoots of all genres. The main stream is defined by the money. Just like always. To me though the mainstream is all about jumping on the thing that made the other guy money so they can have the money. Okay- that's fine but I think the actual longevity of the music we still are bombarded with from back in the day says something. It tells me that most of todays' mainstream stuff is "flash in the pan" and won't be played much in 30 to 40 years. I don't hear anything new like long ago when every month a new band with a new fresh sound came out. Yes you can argue with that too I guess. This stresses the point about opinion.
