Anyone have any idea when/if Fender will come out with a fretless P-bass, besides the Tony Franklin model?

Many people do what I did, which is to install a Warmoth neck on a Fender P. For what it's worth, once I got my Godin A5 fretless I put a fretted neck back on this one.

As delivered:

With the Warmoth neck:

Now, with a fretted maple neck:

True, that is an option. I was just curious/hoping that I Fender would drop a fretless into the selection. I've played a couple entry level type fretless basses from other brands, but still want my fretless Fender P-Bass.

I've only recently come back to playing again,
but I had an American 72 fretless P-bass that I sold in 1980.
I'm so pissed about that!

Hell, if I know what you mean about selling off stuff and then kicking yourself in the $@! later on down the road. That and dumb impulse purchases. I think it goes with the tradition of being a musician. I can only hope I've learned from those mistakes, but probably not.

I've learned a little over the years, but your point is well taken.
I guess it comes with the territory.

I sent Fender an email requesting to know if they will custom build a fretless. P-Bass I was told pretty much no. I failed to save the email, or I would've shared it with everyone. So....to Warmoth I go. Time to build my own frankenstein monster. I will find a p-bass body on e-bay, order the neck, and go to work in my laboratory!!!!!hahahahahaha

I have the fretless Warmoth neck from my project. It has the Warmoth finish on it -- refer to the above photo. Let me know if you'd like to buy it. It's the P width and includes Schallers and the original nut.

Here's another shot of it:

Thanks for the offer. I'm kind of headed in a different direction, as far as the fingboard wood, and finish. I've always wanted a green stained bass guitar, and I think this is the opportunity to do it. Plus I want an ebony fingerboard. Not to detract from yours, it's beautiful!!!
