How well you will like it depends on what you are used to.

If you have been using an SVT Classic type amp, it isn't as warm and it really doesn't seem as loud but it is about 70 lbs lighter. This is somewhat perplexing since it is supposed to be 1000 watts, which is more than twice as powerful as the Classic's power rating. But my days of dragging a Classic around are done. I'm too old for that, and the hybrids are a good solution. The SVT-7 is really much lighter than the SVTIII or B2RE.

If you have been using an SVTIII or other Ampeg rack hybrid you will find the increased power nice, but you might miss the graphic EQ. I know I would.

For the weight and the price, it specs out to be a very good Class D amp even if it is less flexible than the SVTIII tone shaping wise. There were reportedly some early production issues in China with these that have been "rectified" supposedly. Several are known to have failed after less than a few hour's use. I'd for SURE buy the extended warranty and keep a backup handy if you by any Chinese amp. In the SVT-7's "PLUS" column is a dang good built in compressor circuit. I just wish it had the graphic like the SVT-III.

The only issue I have with the SVT-III and B2RE is that while rated at 450 watts they actually don't sound that loud, so when using them outdoors you can tend to push them too hard and before you know it you wind up clipping the signal and the next thing you know you've blown a speaker. The clip warning light is not as visible outdoors, but you need to pay attention to it.

Get the Ampeg 8x10 Cab. Often you can find them used in great shape for much less than new around here. Doesn't matter how old it is or what kind of shape the Tolex is in so long as all the speakers themselves are 100%.

I'm not moving anything that big, but so long as you were considering a 6x10 you might as well go 8x10 as it is louder and not all that much heavier. Also it is easier to sell a used 8x10 than a used 6x10 when you get ready to try something else.

I would get the Ampeg. I know they are good. In fact I'd recommend a used one that says MADE IN USA on the back over a brand new Chinese one.
