Makes want to learn to play bass, on a P Bass of course. Any good sites other than eBay, so I can pick one up for a reasonable price? I already play guitar, so bass shouldn't be too hard to learn. Thanks.

I'd check Craigslist, a local college or university student newspaper and music departments, local pawn shops, local newspaper want ads, etc.

Gbase.com is worth checking. Also go to GuitarCenter.Com then click USED GEAR. They have hundreds.

I know about GuitarCenter. I found a USA SG for $300, but someone got it before I could get there. Such a shame, it was only 3 years old too.

TO HARD TOO LEARN HUH?A very common misconception that being a guitar player already then the bass is a breeze  ,granted that it would be a leg up over somebody who did'nt play a stringed instrument at all, then some of the basics would carry over(tuning, one finger per fret, string notes etc...)but being halfway home...NO
Any good guitarist could play the bass,BUT not any guitarist can be a good bassist,there's also a difference between a bass player(Nikki Sixx,Sid Vicious,Gene Simmons)and a real Bassist(James Jamerson,Geddy Lee,John Paul Jones,Duck Dunn,Derek Smalls).
Theres a world of difference between the different groupings of bass players, the first group plays just enuff to get by and are'nt really known for being a melodic giant, but for the most part get the basic job done, the second group are masters of their instrument, playing melodies and bass lines that in some cases carry the melody and make the song, they have either invented their own styles or taken their playing to completely unchartered waters and continually set the bar to new heights.
I'm not trying to jump on you, some of us are very serious about our craft and take it very personal when our instruments value or technical proficciency thats needed to play is minimalized or underminded, which over the years it has been by MANY(not all)guitarists who think bass is something any of them can do with little or no practice, and how hard could it be with only 4 strings compared to the 6 that I play now(very commen comment).
So be careful how WE word things, its really not WHAT is said, It's HOW its said and it can be taken out of content, when your ready to buy check back with us,we'll point you in the right way!
BTW:wtf does D-D Ramone have to with any of your question? I keep forgetting to ask ?

No need to rage. I just said it would be less difficult than normal. And I don't play intricate pieces. Just simple punk.

I think it's one of those goofy posts where you read the subject line as the first part of the first sentence.

If I got a bass, this would be the first thing I learn. This is my favorite live performance in history. 2nd song I learned to play on guitar. I still think about that time when I couldn't keep a basic rhythm

You are probably right, its a bassline that a person who opens his first bass box and within a few hours can more than likely be able to learn and then play profficiently this songs bassline.
I on the otherhand would prefer the 2 backup basses set next to the amps, nothing says 70's Punk-Rock like a white w/black pickgaurd maple/maple necked P-Bass,I could never find any Fender p-bass with that color combo and maple fretboard new locally,I had to settle for a American made Peavey Fury that I ended up trading in for a down-payment on a 60's classic jazzbass which I became very sorry for very fast. "the grass IS'NT always greener on the other-side of the fence"
