I am new to this forum so if I am in the wrong place let me know. I own a the precision lyte bass guitar. Where can I get info on this guitar since it was given to me as a gift? The price of it in 1995, where it was made and that sort of stuff? I am looking to trade up to a 5 string bass.

Welcome to the forum! Retail prices listed below in the specs. Frequently they were sold at or near full retail as there were no online super dealers back then. In the USA used these sell today for about $350 to $500 in average condition with stock appointments or 600 tops for the nicest ones such as the mahogany body version. I'd say $400 would be an average resale price. Guitar stores might give you $200 or so for trade on it then sell it for $400, so you'd be better served to sell it outright in a private sale.

These were made in Japan at the Fuji-Gen complex which was contracted by Fender Japan to make them. There are two different specs for the standard version depending on year as the model number changed. Excellent players, they are a good value and I have no idea why they sell so low, but they are in no sense rare while the mahogany body versions and the Deluxe versions seem a bit more scarce they still are not RARE as many resellers may claim.

A few common problems with the Japanese P-Bass Lytes include a jack malfunction that causes the electronics to stay powered up all the time draining the batteries which requires a new jack or installing a kill switch to correct. The second problem is they are prone to cracks developing in the headstock which start around the tuner mounting screws. These cracks should be repaired immediately by a luthier.

The same basic dimensional specs of the late 90's P-Bass Lyte were the pattern for the MIM Zone Bass introduced about 2001, but the electronics on the Zone were very different. The same Fender hard case that fits a Zone Bass works for a P-Bass Lyte.
