I own a 92 Japan Precision Bass Lyte and I almost sold it when I discovered it has active pickups. I cant figure out the controls on it though. I've seen other comments on these on this forum but no definative answers on this topic. It has 4 controls, a top and bottom front and top and bottom back. This bass is red, has a flamed top, and I swear looks like it was never played by anyone. I think I'll keep it if I can but really would like to know exactly what I have and how to operate it. Thanks, Bassistbobby

I had a charcoal grey '90 one, got stolen in 98 !!! but hope this helps, its a 2 band active EQ having 3 centre notched pots. They are BASS, TREBLE, PAN and VOLUME. Im unsure of the layout now as it was awhile ago but to find out, plug in your bass, to identify the pan pot, turn the pots and find the pot that turns off each pickup. Try tapping the pickup covers gently with something metallic like a key or screwdriver to "knock test" the pickups. Turned full back will be the J pickup, full front will be the P pickup. The EQ pots are centre notched and provide I think 12db of boost or cut. Again, whilst plugged in listen to each pot and what it does. If it adds Bass then thats the bass control and so on. The volume pot isnt centre notched. I think, looking at the bass from the front, at 12 o'clock is volume, 9 o'clock is pan, at 6 o'clock is bass and 3 o'clock is treble. Oh and the flametop is one of Fender's fotoflame transfers. A sadly shortlived collaboration between Fender and Fujifilm to recreate the flamed look without hammering loads of rarer trees !! Dont know why this wasnt continued.
