Hello. I am going to buy a Highway P Bass.
It has a very strange serial number: US10087191
Is it made in the USA?
I assume it is made in 2010.

Where did you get the serial # from? On the headstock? Per guitar dater:
Serial number unrecognized

that's weird, guitardater.org can't find it...although that site hasn't been the most accurate lately. Maybe some other expert can help...is it possible to post pic of the headstock of said bass?

Your bass is a 2010.
It is Made In USA, as the back of the headstock says.

US+digits is Fender's MIA serial numbering post-2009.
"10xxxxxx" and "Z10xxxxxx" have been seen as 2010 serials prior to the introduction of USxxxxxx.
Guitar Dater has probably not been updated on this.

At first glance the first 3 or 4 pieces of the serial sequence look almost fabricated, they seem a bit darker than the rest of the serial numbers are.
Was it bought from a store,on-line auction or person to person ? if its a store bought item I would'nt worry about it,this your fist Fender ? if so: then enjoy your new Precision Bass.

I stand corrected but one thing I do believe thats it's a HighWay 1 US made model, the tuners are the ones used on the MIM basses, the thinner finish is standard on this line of basses ETC....
I stand corrected that its a U.S.bass,And the model is a HIGHWAY1 which is a few hundred bucks cheaper than the U.S.standard,but all in all a great bass,I dig the new headstock decal, its gotta a vintage vibe to it.
ENJOY!

This bass is from the store mentioned in the list of fender distributors.
I bought it. Sounds very nice.
I can clearly see that the first 4 symbols of the serial number are fabricated.
