Parker made "body guards" for Fender to cover the back of your guitar or bass. Did they make one for Precisions or was there only the Jazz Bass? I saw mostly Jag's Jazzmasters & Jazz Basses but one link on the metmentioned one for a strat & saw one for a mustang. So I wondered if they made one for the P Bass. It would be cool to have with the original box. Not that I would mount it on any of my basses.

Yep they had those clear plastic covers for P-Basses and about everything in the Fender guitar line.

I can remember them in the early '70's, they seemed like a good idea, never used them though.

NOTHING in my mind shows appreciation and love for our instrument like the sweet caress of a beltbuckle to the back of the bass except for MAYBE a cigarette burn on the headstock, scratches in the paint, nicks etc...
CHARACTER builders is what I call them

I wear my belt sidewards most days (when not in uniform of course) to prevent buckle scars. It's one thing to have dings and dents, but I'm a big fan of keeping the protective finish intact as much as possible.

Any battle scars on my basses were earned in action.

I totally agree! If it gets reliced that should be from YOUR use not from someone else before you even own it !

ITS CALLED BEING A POSER!! They have been around forever(well the 80s or so)hey look at my bass,NO its not a real vintage bass but it does LOOK like one,I can see an artist or even a weekend warrior having a vintage bass that is beloved but no longer can or willing to take out for value or whatever then get a similar model or a reliced bass...?
But to take a new MIM bass, smack it about and sell it for 1100.00$ ....?(they are'nt bad basses, just making a sense-less point)I'll take the American standard for 1000.00$ and make it old myself(if I could stop posting here and start to play it)I bought it 5 yrs ago and I never played it because I talk about basses and never bothered to learn to play,WAIT thats not me..Sorry I had a Sid Vicious state of mind minus the Fender forum part,BUT at least he beat it down himself,The bass I mean silly,he did the reliced part without it even having strings.
