In their latest catalog, I've just seen that American Musical Supply is now listing a "NEW" Fender SKU# for Left-Handed American Standard P-Basses with Maple fretboard option!

I called and none are currently in-stock, but I think Fender USA has finally come around after 30 years!

Finally, a Maple fretboard option for lefty bass players!

To be continued

I saw this thread way back when and I'm glad that you might get what you want finally. Let us know how it works out.
I played with a lefty guitarist for many years so I understand your frustration.

Well, I just learned from Fender USA that they have no plans to offer a Maple fretboard option on a Precision Bass (nor on a Jazz Bass) at this time and the product that American Musical Supply listed in their catalog recently was a misprint :-(

Fender, please...

Maple - the fretboard wood that most comes to mind when one thinks of Fender instruments

Fender - inventors of the electric bass, the original, the icon

There should be no question that a run of these USA-made instruments would not sell in today's global, Internet-powered, marketplace

A Maple fretboard option has been available on left-handed Stratocasters and Telecasters for decades, and with more finish options than just Black and Sunburst as with the basses. Why not offer a Maple fretboard on even one bass? Not even one.

All I want is an American Standard Precision Bass with a Maple fretboard and I'd buy one in every color

Lefty's already pay an up-charge for left-handed Fender instruments, but I refuse to pay the $5000 quoted to my dealer from the Fender USA Custom Shop
