I expect there won't be much to this thread, but can't help myself.

OK, still relatively new to this site, and just discovered the color chart.

man oh man oh man I'm lusting after one of the paisley flame jobs! Almost as much as I still LUST after a 3rd generation Mazda RX7.

My P bass Special is the navy blue metallic (with gold color pickguard), and I chose that color because it's metallic and usually looks black. But I SOOOO want one of the paisley flame paint jobs!

I've seen a lot of references to liking the Blizzard Pearl, and the blondes. What's your favorite color?

BTW, these forums are so addictive I'm spending tim on my computer instead of on my bass. PHOOEY!

what color chart did you see? The 1960s one on ebay? I get on this site in the morning & break time at work. No time at night. Any free time at night I'm playing my basses.

Oh, another color freak. We should start a support group. I have collected charts and links to charts. Click the link in my signature below, then click the red link to INSTRUMENT HISTORIC DATA. Scroll down to VINTAGE GUITAR COLORS and see the list of charts I have posted there. Enjoy!

Blonde
Candy Apple Red
Three Color Sunburst
Fiesta Red
Shall I go on?

Thanks, Brother Dave, for the links!

Definitely:
Red Paisley Flames
Blue Paisley Flames
Navy Blue Metallic
Blue Transparent
Lake Placid Blue Metallic
Sapphire Blue
Candy Apple Red
3-color Sunburst

Perhaps:
Firemist Silver Metallic
Blue Ice Metallic
Inca Silver
Candy Cola
Midnight Wine

Guess I'll have to start making some money so I can indulge my G.A.S. and have a bass in at least enough different colors for every note in an octave. Of course, then there' different models of basses. So much music, so little time. :D

Paisley finish is like a piece of wallpaper which is glued to the body, its the same idea as the Photo-flame finish which made hum-drum looking basses seem more expensive than what they are,I am not a fan of the p/flame because once the finish is breached(a crack or a split ETC..)the finish starts to chip off easily exposing the delicate photoflame.
