How about offering him a slap with a wet bunker(a baitfish often used to catch bluefish with a oily texture and strong foul fishy odor)AND $150.00 :?: And tell him that its for wasting everyones time !
For the new price its being listed as you can go to a music store and buy one for even less, they usually sell for $300.00(most used stores) give or take(including the"HOLYGRAIL" I hear)
The newer models made much better are in the 450.00$ range, save up and get one and avoid any question, the extra money for a modern one is well worth the wait, they have come along way in the last 5 years or so,and your exp. with other brands should carry over to all basses as far as playability, fit and finish.
Pricing is easy, figuring out all the physical traits of a guitar/bass is the hard part and most often avoided, learning the parts and set-up of ones instrument goes far in avoiding problematic basses,re-pairs,set-ups and modifications,I cant believe some of the great musicians I have met over the years who still cant change their own strings and re-intonate their bass/guitar  (nevermind a set-up).

I paid $175 for my '99 MIM. It was in a rough shape. I got it for a project bass tho, and my main concern was a straight neck cuz maybe one day I'll buy a Warmoth body :)

$375 is too much tho for my area (going with a HWY 1 PBass '06 is going for $499 before negotiations here) not sure what the going price in Chico, CA is.

I know which one it was, and I'm not telling.

Thanks OXman. I am getting positive feed back from serious people who know what a bass should sound like when I'm doing the jigedges. The Grail lives. I cannot expose it nationally or worldly. It's priceless to me. I don't think I'd take 10,000 for it I swear. It has taken my whole bass existance to find the one. I'm aware it could be a wanted item so I am very carefull.
