Thanks a lot, buddy! Thanks to you my first day off is going to be bad because YOU got me all worked up over the new Blacktop basses. See how you are? See what you did? I hope you're happy!

I was playing my Jazz, in an alternate tuning, by the way, and thought, "Hmmmm, it would be nice to have a Precision to use this tuning too."

Now I need, not one but TWO new basses! (Squier VM Jazz is my back-up so it doesn't count)

I can't even try one of the damn Blacktops!

I just remembered, Guitar Hell has MIM Precisions and Jazz basses in red with maple.

They're only about $100.00 more and if I buy two, I can really beat them up on the price!

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

CURSE YOU BROTHERDAVE!!!!!

True, but I could surely give you a weather report on a good number of basses. There's a front of Blacktop basses moving in. No rain, just Blacktop basses.

Ox. SIT DOWN! I just played A Blacktop Precision at SA. It was ok, but not that great. The Squiers were better finished, for less cash. Didn't care for that style bridge on it. The fretboard was pretty rough. The neck itself on this one felt ok though. Sound didn't do that great either. Oh well.

Ask yourself this ? Why are they only 499.99$ ? Why would the Fender co. be so nice to their loyal fans by giving them a newly designed bass for this price ? With Fender there's always an alterior motive and this time should'nt be any different.
A fellow I do bass work for(set-ups,fret work etc...)either before or after he goes on 3-4 week tours has the ability to play a few of these, the music store is next door to his APT,we are very similar in style and prefer all the same model basses(I was playing Fenders first)my point is that I trust his judgement, this is what was relayed to me"they look and feel like an Idonesian made basses opposed to the highly improved MIM's".
So bass-ically they have that budget cheap like feel and dont have the characteristics of the improved Mexican line, they feel more like a Ibanez import more than a big'ol Fender bass(no offense to our Ibanez fans,I owned at least 6 in my day)the fret-ends were sharp, the fret-board looked like it has'nt seen any oil in a few years and the tone was either all one way or all of the other way,no smooth middle ground.
So dont feel like you are missing out on them,Sadly said they are just something new and different, plus we all are aware that different does'nt mean anything special,I always wait about a year and a half before deciding to buy a newly designed bass,it allows for the natural order of things to work their way out and also I avoid getting a bass thats cool looking but may tend to self destruct after a few years of use,its a crap shoot.

You are so right about the Squier Jag. They have those in SA also. A very nice bass.

One can never have too many fun things. Buying 2 at once sounds deliciously decadent -- 2 lovelies to enjoy at the same time. How FUN! :D
