Guitar Dater Project says:
Your guitar was made at the
Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan
in the Year(s): 1984 - 1987

Photos would be nice.

Oh welcome to the forum! Sorry missed it was your first post!

I also checked the fender Support resource for Japanese instruments and it also said 1984-1987. If you want to get more specific, you'll need to message Brad Traweek who is THE MAN! He might can narrow it down more.

The E series is one of the Hardest serial numbers to get a exact year from,My Jazzbass special had a E6XXXX..? serial number and no matter where I checked they all said it was a 3 year serial run and the exact year is un-attainable.
I spoke to the Fender repairman I was apprenticing under with this question hoping he could get a closer answer than a 3 year possible build date I was able to find, there were subtile variences from year to year and the neck and bodies were different in some ways un-noticable to us and there's many different neck and fingerboard radius'es and the proper sanding blocks for each dimension need to be exact,So I thought with this pertanent info being needed to properly shape and fit the wood parts he could get a more accurate timeline of production I believed, WRONG!
I have heard from a reliable source that they(Japan)sometimes re-used serial numbers for whatever reason,Its no big a deal  ,You got a notoriously revered model bass in your possession in which I have NEVER heard anything negative about them(aside from suspect pick-ups)they are well made and the necks are just about always spot on,I still regret having to sell the neck from off of mine(still got the body,a big'ol piece of Basswood)I have yet to play another Jazzbass type neck like that one again.
Every single time I brought the to my buddies music store I was asked by someone to sell it,I still hate myself for doing it even though it was sell it and pay the rent, or keep it and sqwat in its case untill evicted,I have sold many basses I truely loved just to be able to survive, its been 3 years with all my basses and thank GOD I did'nt need to sell them as of yet.GOT A GOOD ONE,HOLD ON TO IT!
