i just dont understand why they decided 2 stop makng it. im mean its weird cus it was really popular, from what i understand it was a consistant seller, and not to mention that many people (myself and many of my friends included) actually like it more than the standard p-bass (no offense to the regular p-bass, it is awsome in its own right :D ). im not asking if u know the exact reason why they stopped making it (however if u do please post it, i would love to hear about it :D), im just asking for some suggestions and reasons why u think they stopped making it cus i would really like to hear some other opinions :)

This was discussed pretty recently. The consensus seems to be that Fender wanted the production capacity for other models. Sales have been slowing down, apparently, and, like any business, Fender needs to move product. I see only one on eBay (plus several that appear to have been parted out) of the recent CIJ model, plus a couple of older reissues that were more expensive and are currently priced a lot higher. I'd bet, too, that with the Squier single-coil bass, Fender was selling more of them than the relatively costlier CIJ Fender. I bought one before the price increase a few years ago (2006) and I love mine. I play mine regularly, if a little less often than my split-coil Ps. The slab body is a little awkward, and it'll hum in the wrong environment, but it's still a great instrument, with a Thump! that I can't get out of the later models. It's a shame they painted it that horrible yellow -- but you can't hear paint.
