Thank you all. As to the Hartke setup, it lasted for about year, between an Ampeg B100R and the Mesa/Boogie Walkabout Scout 1x15 I use now. I used it at a lakeside Fourth of July party a year ago, and it handled the outdoor-and-104F gig without breaking into a sweat. But my M/B is the tone monster. Its only drawback is that it weighs 63 lb, and has a single off-center strap handle. Luckily, the head pulls out of the cab, so I'll be using it with 2-10s.

I have both an American P and American Deluxe Jazz. I suppose the Jazz is the nicer of the two being a deluxe and is a 2011 model so the build quality is insanely good.

That said, when I'm gigging, I go with the P. As another poster said, two bars into a song the band just looks at me and is like wow. The Jazz is something I play at home for fun, but I always feel it sounds thin in a mix.

I can dig the wow thing. It is a rush to me when our guitar player is doing an intro with a heavy guitar chord thing and when it's time for the bass to come in and I hammer in riding an A note ( that's the only note I play in all our songs it seems) the thunder is unleashed and the song seems to come into the next dimension of total explosion P bass "god like" sound. People go "wow" I'm sure because it can put chills on me. Only a bass player can understand what I just wrote.

I have a Jazz that has a very good thunder bass sound but it's a bit heavy after all night. I have been going with my Precision which I have decided is never allowed to be gone from my possesion. Sometimes I just sit down and look at it.

Definately like P Basses more. I have a '72 Firemist Gold P with a maple "A" neck. Nut width the same as a Jazz. It's nice for change but I play my '66 Olympic White & '69 LP Blue more because of the P bass necks. I like the look of the P Basses better & fell of the neck. Maybe it's because I don't play the jazz neck alot but my fingers seem to "stumble" on frets 1,2,&3 on the jazz neck. Oh yeah if you haven't noticed I'm a sucker for custom colors. I post a photo of all 3 soon. I will post it in "Show Your Precision Bass" thread.

Left to right: 1966 Olympic White, 1969 Lake Placid Blue, 1972 Firemist Gold. All are 100% original. The Gold one has an "A" neck. The Amps is a re-issue '59 Bassman

I usually don't play with the covers on but I put them on for the photo. All 3 of these basses are super clean too. They all appear unplayed. They all came with case candy manuals, dust cloths & straps. The white one has the sales slip (Came from a TV repair shop!), the blue one has original Fender price tag & the '72 has an inspection tag. All have original cases too.
