My kids got me a gift card so, while wifey went to buy fabric, I went to Guitar Center. Why do I do this to myself. Every American Standard was at the top, impossible to get to without a ladder, the American Specials were all on the bottom. They were worse than before. you could feel ridges where the wood was glued together and there was a sunburst Jazz that the grains were running in opposite directions. played two, setups were horrible, 1 buzzed, the other, the tone pot kept cutting out half way to full bass.

Never again. I'm gonna blow the card and tell the kids, just give me cash, I'll buy on line.

Interesting tidbit, they had a new, if you can call a GC wallhanger bass new, FSR Jazz for $599.00.

Over dinner, I was telling the wife about my experience and that the American Standards were great, she asked if i wanted one, I said no, I'm happy with what I've got.

Just like Ralphy on "A Christnas Story". To quote sabre, Daaaaaammmmmmnnnn!

I was going to GC for the 4th of July sale, but why get all pissy with crap you don't want on sale and the stuff you want not available with the discount....So I ended up chilling, listening to live music in downtown Green Bay. Then took my daughter to the fireworks that night. Great day/night thanks to our Founding Fathers!

Why do you...? Cause your addicted to everything bass(if its not bass, its Crap!)THATS WHY ! I have'nt been to G.C in almost 2 years, after getting almost flim-flammed when I traded up my MusicMan for a Fender jazzbass by a salesman that I trained!(7 yrs back)Who do they think they were dealing with;a Danny Bonaduce type bassist ? Not this guy,now way no how.
They put the better basses up higher so you need to involve the assistance of the worker bee's in your "browsing",Like I have said before,"THEY SELL B STOCK" Avoid at all costs if you can, acessories are safe(straps/locks,strings,tuners etc..)be careful the darkside is strong in them

I have to deal with GC.I have nowhere else to go. :( But being a kid, they really like me.And I've tought them stuff. So they have started to not bother me or my dad. I have a list of stuff to take when I go,strap, tuner, cord.some times new guys come up and ask how long I've been takeing lessons and I say never.Thats when they start doing every thing you tell them to,and stop lieing. :D GC has finaly become a pleasureable for me. :D The first time I went there to actualy buy something myself(my tele)the place was a wreck. After the 4th time I ask a guy to grab that Gretsch,or that sig jazz,he tunes it and puts my strap on it hands it to me,and I go off on my own.I don't think it has anything to do with me,but ever since that day I bought my tele. The place has finaly become nice to go to. :D

Sometimes they're more trouble then what they're worth.

There's always a bunch of kids at the GC I went to yesterday, I think their parent's drop them off while they go shopping elsewhere. There is another GC in another town that the people working there aren't too bad, it's just that their merchandise sucks.

GC- stinkin put the right price on the guitars will ya'? I go in there and buy a guitar thinking it's 1500 and they ring it up and it's 1100. Why do that??? I'm stressed out enough as it is.
GC regularly smashes guitars and throws them in the dumpster out back. Employees stash those guitars sometimes and take them home or give them away.
GC is like Wal Mart in that they put other music stores out of business. Especially ones in small towns. Okay capitalism and all that- I understand-- it's just the facts 'mam.
GC- the music in thier in store sound system is so freakin loud I can hardly stay in there very long. I would dye my hair jet black too if I had to work there all day." The mushroom people"
GC- I'm old dudes- Don't tell me about the set screw in a Jazz knob. I know it's there!!!!!!!!
GC- you are the only ones who have my XL rotos....... ya' Bastards!
GC last but not least-- the incredibley annoying impossible to stand goofs who go in there and play every stinkin lick they know on a cheap imitation guitar cause they're checkin out the set up. What set up? There is no set up at GC.

All this and I still do not Hate GC- I'm not a hater. I have to go there too. So I make the best of it and I help out the girls who work there who know nothing about the bass they get down for me. I'll learn them like I would my own daughter. My daughter already knows stuff....like everything!!!! HA! :D

it's kinda funny.the other kids that show up and can't play.I just give them a blank stare and they run to the drum room.if that doesn't work,I put down the bass pick up a gretsch and play blues REALY LOUD.and that makes them stop and stare at you.   chumps!
