chef!! i love you :D

but yeah i really like white guy blues too, because white guys just have a different sound, and soul style than black guys :D

but it's really hard to find, most of the white guys that made it big enough are big, and if they didn't then theres probably something missing... anyway you should try an online radio station like pandora.com or slacker.com and put someone in that you like and see what else comes up

My favorite was "Bellyup for the Blues.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Rory Gallagher in your original post....

6 or 7 of my top 10 favorite Bluesmen are / were black, but blues has more to do with the soul than anything else. :)

come on sabre, rory gallagher is not to mention in that case; i saw him 6 or 7 times and i'v got almost everything he recorded... could have said peter green, clapton, john mayall, mick taylor, garry moore and many others... -i'm looking for american players.

my favorites are 1/3 black, 1/3 white, 1/3 americans and 1/3 europeans!!!
oh, and the rest are the blues-girls like bonnie raytt and anna popovich...

Are you guys on the Metric System there?
1/3+1/3+1/3+1/3= 1 1/3rd...... :)

Does Stevie Ray count as white, or American? :?
You wouldn't believe all the Americans that aren't white, so I can't make that assumption.. :D
(Yes, Chef... I'm making a funny.) :D

You saw Rory multiple times?
I wish I did.... :(
Where did you see him, and what year???

On a brighter note, when I lived in NH, I was the net tech for a music store there and the owner let me play his Rory Strat... It was pretty sweet. 8)

1. yes, it's metric and it's quite higher developed then english/american stuff so you do hard to understand...

2. srv is definitely not a blues-girl

3. party/gig/event-rule from the '70s: if you remember it, you weren't there

(saw gallagher in '73 (or '75) in wettingen , '81 in st.gallen, '92 in zürich, '94 in thun, all switzerland, later in stuttgart and cologne, germany and in colmar, france)

Yes, the Metric System makes more sense and is easier to calculate in your head, but we all grew up with the Imperial System, so Metric is a pain in the butt for most of us. :)

didn't know that it's called imperial (nomen est omen) and dunno why it's kept still, so #$@*&!% complicated same as degrees fahrenheit... :?

Yes Chef, you are correct, but since we grew up with our crappy system, we're used to it now and too stubborn and set in our ways to change.

ok, we'll handle that!!!

the swiss deputy of the
NICP decrees the following:
the governments of the united states of america and great britain shall immediately ban the useless so called "imperial" counting- and measuring-system and give place to the sublime metric system.
therefore all us- and gb- measuring-devices, weights and thermometers shall be taken off and destroyed and be replaced by equitable metric tools.
in case of refusing the
NICP will take adequate measures such as admonition, embargo and up to prime-minister or president-spanking.
so it is written and so shall it be.

Someone just told me that elephants have long memories. If you act like you're going to give them peanuts, then don't, next time they see you, they'' slap you upside your head with their trunk!

I mentioned Phil Guy who is far less known than his brother Buddy Guy,I guess I read the post to fast and missed the "White man" section of the question.
Like I said MY influences were the Britash invasion versions of the blues so thats what I wrote,I was'nt trying to "preach to the choir" by explaining the influences of the blues and how it shaped modern rock ETC....,Me being 40 does'nt hardly qualify me as a blues expert of any type.
My musical taste is very specific,I listen to whatever I always listened to Period,I dont ever pick the net looking for un-signed,underground or up and coming indie acts,If its NOT Zep.Sabbath,T/Who,Beatles,Stones(also a few scattered others but these are the core)and lets not forget MOWTOWN.
So for now I guess I cannot assist anyone or point the way to, nor recommend anything newer than 1990, I hated the 80's and feel like it was the single WORST time musically for any genre,Rock was WIMPY and non organic,I could'nt bere this time in music so I removed it from my life,it was empty hole but it was better than what was playing on the radio or the TV at the time,I still get sick to my stomach when some of these songs are being played(not if I can help it  ).
So I do applogize for mis-reading the question,I do try to adhere to whats being discussed in the thread, I believe that if someone took the time to write it then I should reciprocate with an answer having to do with the question in hand

Check out Robin Henkel (http://www.robinhenkel.com) on YouTube:

I'm taking bass lessons from him. It's all about playing the blues.
