hi folks and felllows,
i just discovered sean costello and i'm amazed, what a feeling... as a fan of white-folks blues i just wonder what you guys have in your blues-collections. not the big ones as johnny winter, srv, bonamassa, lang or mayer; i'd rather go for the less known, old style played and produced stuff.

us-music arrives in europe only through merciless mainstream-filter radio-shows, blues almost don't happen so i'm glad for hints. :)

Elvin Bishop, not exactly unknown but his "Juke Joint Jump" is hot.

OK here's some largely unknown blue-eyed soul acts out of North Carolina and South Carolina USA: The Embers, The Catalinas, The Band of Oz, Sea Cruise, The EBS Allstars, Too Much Sylvia, Harry Deal and The Galaxies, Bill Deal and The Rhondells, The Night Moves Band, Gary Roland and the Landsharks Band...and others. My band is not strictly blue-eyed so we didn't make the list. I'm sure just about every region has some regional blue-eyed R&B/Dance/Blues acts like the ones we have around here. For some reason these bands seem to last decades here and continue to draw good crowds. Some of these bands have been playing around here since the 1960's/70's.

I always thought blues had no color boundaries in my experiences playing, and that was one of the things that really pulled me to it along with the obvious attraction to the music. The first band I ever played in in 1968 was three blacks and two whites up in the Pittburgh area...learned more about human and race relations from that than anything I've ever done since....it was great!

We really loved the music and we took care of each other...never had an incident worth mentioning in the time we were together, whether we were in black bars, white bars, mixed (there weren't many then,) whatever. When we played black joints, they brought extra people along to look after us, and we did the same in the white bars. I lot of good music was played and much mutual respect was gained, not just with us but with the crowds, to.

And believe me, I am no flaming liberal...much more the other direction. Politics had nothing to do with any of it then...it was just about the music. Only reason we split up was that three of us, including myself, decided to move to New England for better opportunities at the time,

I can turn you guys onto a ton of good stuff I listened to and collected over the last 40-some odd years, but it won't be based on color.

Not meant to be a flame or to incite the original poster. This is just how I feel. You guys can tell me what you think and we'll go from there.

I know since I play in an interracial R&B band that you are not flaming me. LOL.
Still it is interesting how many 100% blue-eyed R&B bands there are in the Carolinas.

You have to check out Seasick Steve- the best whiteman blues dude I've heard lately. His back story is great too. Just search Seasick Steve.

oh, don't get me wrong, i love black mans music ((is that politically correct?) same as is do any other.
When whites do the blues it has a certain expression and manner, that's what i'm looking for.
to name all the black folks music in my collection would go far over the threrad, it's plenty!!!
i'm white as same as i'm black, red or any color that god created...
(check "colored people" by dc talk). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iM17qeIIIE4

I based my 25 years of drumming on Zeppelin stuff,to me they were basically nothing more at first but a Blues style band that re-worked alot of the Famous Mississippi and Delta blues,so by using its formula Zep re-wrote their songs by adding a much more driving guitar line on top of one of the best rythem sections ever in rock.
Its what rock-n-roll was derived from and you can still today here its influence in music,ALL types.
My first bass teacher turned me on to some of the Chicago blues styles,I would go and watch him play with Phil Guy who is the(not as famous) brother of blues legend Buddy Guy,It is to me a more rock orientated blues style; but still staying true to its original structure and formula.
Good stuff

aw come on memphis, we all know about the influence of blues into rock music... we grew up with:
if you got no blues, you got no rock'n'roll!
just looking for old and new white purist blues artists which didn't made it big, the insider to say so...
