Tell me about it....
You guys pay almost twice as much as we do for a Leo Quan Badass bridge!

Just looking at a Line 6 Studio 110 - but £269 against $299 :?: :?:

For a bass???? :?

Indeed - see Brother Dave's review!

The bass player in a friend's band has one, and hers sounds amazing for such a tiny thing - and with the emulated DI running through the PA, you'd swear she was using a big rig.

Heck! If you have a big PA, you can just get a Sansamp VT Deluxe like uncle Bob and Pennywise swear by... It's much easier to haul to gigs than a beastly bass amp!

I already do that, using the Behringer BDI21 - love that little thing, and it fits into the pocket of my hardshell case. There's a good thread on TalkBass about the BDI21 vs Sansamp: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f36/sansamp-bddi-vs-behringer-bdi21-blind-test-294957/

But I need a little, portable amp for acoustic gigs etc., and the Studio 110 will fit the bill perfectly. Just had a voicemail from Poole Music Room to say they have one in stock, so I'll go over and give it a thorough working-over next week

I'll let you all know how I get on...

So I've been playing a 60's vintage reissue Jazz Bass for about 6 months now. Yesterday I was killing time in GC and saw a Blizzard Pearl P-Bass Special with the J Bass pups and was intrigued. I played it, loved it, bought it. While I love the smooth, warm sound of Janis (my J Bass with D'Addario flatwounds), it's really a kick playing around with Maddie (the new bass) and getting such growl out of it. Janis is jealous. I'll have to find a way to keep them both happy now. Such fun.

I too am getting a new fathers day bass! Its Good to Be a Dad!!! 8)

The one on the bottom is what I use, if i wouldn't have had such a bad G.A.S. attack, I would have looked further and gotten the VT.

As far as tweaking, they're amazing.

Brother Dave uses Tech 21 Sansamp too.

i'm not much into using effects or do heavy tone-changing... just plug and play.
i use the sans amp only as driver and the p.a. link and it really does great

When I got my Sansamp, I had never played one before. I based my decision solely on having read that John Entwistle and Geddy Lee, as well as a whole lot of people, always use them. I didn't look at the website, or I would have known they made a lot more different models.

As well as an almost infinite number of tones, we bass players appreciate subtle differences, it makes an amp a whole lot more. I never play without it.

i got mine* after a friend lend me his for a gig, we often play without amp so i have a wider sound-control before the p.a. (*found it on a flea-market for half a price... )
and with getting older i became kinda lazy, i don't like to carry unnecessary stuff with me, the tech 21 bass driver has anything i really need.
