Well.............................no. I think I'll keep both basses as is. Anyway they would look funny without all thier parts.

I am lovin that maple neck w/black binding&blocks,I can never seem to be in possesion of that style neck,My Geddy Lee model(even though being laminated over blocks)was my only shot thus far at this awesome looking neck,I sadly had to return it due to being non repairable.
And it seemed like every other one I was going to purchase had some issue one way or the other with the neck, like a crack from the bullet adj down to the 1st fret, binding missing or coming of/need of repair and the blocks being all jacked up,there for giving up on the attempt to find a good one before I went nuts.
I do prefer maple necks on a p-bass,coupled with a sunburst body its the opitomy of my perfect looking Fender p-bass,if it werent for the 450.00$ price tag I would have not bought one with a rosewood fretboard but that price does'nt come around too often on a used mint p-bass(could easily pass for new w/out question) still with the plastic on the pickgaurd.
My jazzbass on the otherhand looks just ducky with the rosewood fretboard and tortoise shell p/gaurd,to me its a timeless look and sound no two ways about it.

When I first saw my 72 jazz I thought it was a bit beyond my reach- like- I'll never be able to own that. I traded 3 basses for it a couple years later. It was in the store a long time and the guy was ready to deal. I traded lesser value basses. It was easier for him to sell those than try and get the price he wanted for the 72. I've done some trading in addition to the 3 with my guy at the store. He's not doing so well right now. Nobodies buying anything. He has a really sweet figured 77 P bass. I think if it's not ash it's Mahogany(light). I want it bad. I've never seen such broad wavy grain. It's all original.

I've kind of slowed down on guitar wheelin' and dealin' lately. Craigs list has about zero on it up here. Nobody is buying either. I don't mess with ebay hardly anymore.
The 77 may be walnut . I don't know if Fender made any odd wood basses in 77. I tried to trade for it. The store guy needs cash right now. He just moved to a better location but he's not getting much business. He's got nice stuff. It's not some wimpy music store. He's got my old Tobias, my old Flying V, my old Warwick, my old sparkle top, Ha! I'd almost buy back my Flying V bass. Here's a pic of it................

man, i couldn't agree more...

i have one chop up strat, and i made it from recent parts from a MIM, and a MIJ strat, but if i were to see a p bass vintage chopped up it would make me sad, i mean i want that vintage guitar, mine's a 98 not quite vintage, lol...

but if i were ever able to get my hands on one i would be freaking stoked, and never pull it apart.
