the new gen rumbles are pretty good now. I my self wasn't a fan, but playing with it a few months a go, I'm impressed. To the OP, all the advice here are pretty good! Take notes, go out, have fun. Don't let it be a stressful chore when you look for the 'right' one. Welcome to the low end!

Today's ACOUSTIC brand bass amps are built under contract in China. The corporation that owns Guitar Center, Musiciansfriend, Music123 and many other product retailers bought the rights to the ACOUSTIC brand and contract the amps out for sale through all their online and real world locations. The same people in the same plant that make the Kustom KB100 on one day make the 100 watt Acoustic combo on another day. The specs down to the weight are identical. Essentially the same amp at the same price with slightly different cosmetics and EQ voicing specs. In addition to the XLR out the Kustom has a FAR better warranty.

Chinese contracting in itself isn't necessarily bad. But these amps are amazingly heavy because of their particle board construction. Get them wet, let something fall on one or drop one you'll find out why particle board is a sub-par bass cab material. For home use or an occasional garage jam they sure are loud for the money and they suit those uses just fine.

For a combo or cab subject to steady gig use, you will be better served to look for one with solid plywood construction.

Acoustic and Kustom are NOT the only brands with particle board construction. Another one that comes to mind is the Ashdown combos.
