guys, the kid has a new problem to deal with..

ok so since i've installed the duncans it seems like when i get the amp louder it starts to overdrive the amp, it's an acoustic B20 20 Watt.. what is the problem here, and is there a way to fix it without getting a new amp because my money is non existent, should i change some settings or something, whats y'all's opinion?

Turn the master volume up and the gain down....
The gain is where your distortion is coming from.

If it didn't happen with the old p/u, turn the volume down on your bass.. The SPB-3 is a reasonably hot p/u.

remember dude, it doesn't have gain, it's just got volume, low, mid-low, mid-high, and high knobs.

it did not happen on the old P/U either, so if i turn the volume on the bass down and the amp up i could get a louder volume and no O/D?? also do you think my speaker could be blown? i hope not, i did not get the extended warranty.

Your generation is not very adventurous, are they?
Yes, turn the volume on the bass down 3/4s to 1/2 way....
The p/u's won't overload the amp that way.
And do yourself a favor...
Don't ever buy a bass w/ active p/u's until you get a bigger amp. :)
BTW... What's your amp and how big is the speaker?

LOL my generation needs help haha, ok, well i will try that, i don't have active p/u's right now, or do i, are SPB3's active, i thought you had to have the battery powered ones for them to be active...

it's an acoustic B20, 20 Watt, 12 inch speaker.

ANYWAY sabre, you're the guy that told me i need to "listen to what the old guys say, and not be young and know everything, because they've been playing longer than you've been alive" LOL

so i'm tapping into my resources to see if i can't figure out how to fix my problem

ok, so i know i don't need pedals for bass, i was wondering if that would help the problem...

ok so they are hot and not active so that's a good thing, if i turn the volume down on the bass, and up on the amp that will get me loud bass sound, but not O/D? if i am understanding you correctly....... i just want to make sure the speaker is not blown out.

and i know this, you're just the first to respond that's why i put it here so everyone could throw in their 2 cents

thanks uncle bob, i will try that when i get home, i'm not trying for a live situation at the moment, i just want to turn it up loud and rattle the windows, lol, but if i do get to a live situation that would be a good idea :D and i'm happy to hear that it's hard to blow out the speaker. and yes i'm still under manufacture warranty, i may still be under GC warranty too but i don't know if their policy is 30 or 90 days, i can always take it in and see whats up, i mean would i know if it's blown does it make a different sound then overdrive, i've honetly never heard a blown speaker before. in anything so i don't know.

sabre, i realize this, but i am at work at the moment, i will try it when i get home and update ya'll of my progress

sabre, you should send me that rig :D

also i turned the volume down to 1/2 and

vuala no O/D however there is something vibrating around the amp, i only hear it on certain notes, and it's the same vibration noise each time, i don't know if it's the cabinet or the wall or something else close by, i will do more trouble shooting for that tomorrow

thanks guys I LOVE YOU

(thats N.I.C.P. love that is)

All of what you were told to do was good information. Take the amp into another room and see if the rattle goes away. In my gameroom, everything rattles. You could take it outside, yeah, that's the ticket!

Take some pictures of your amp outside.

Down here everything floats!

I sold that rig off a piece at a time... The 2X15 JBL cab was the last to go around 1992-ish.... I like my Hartke better... I like Rez's Hartke even better. :)

So you wanted to rattle the windows and you're going to complain about a vibration? :D

well LOL no, i just want to hear the amp with no vibration first, then have fun making stuf rattle.... and also i want to make sure it's not the cabinet, if i need to glue something down or something like that... LOL

also i have pics of the amp, it's inside though and here it is

My Kustom KB 100 is the same amp as the Acoustic B 100, except it has a direct out. Yeah it's a cheapie but, for $249.99, what can you expect? As long as they're not abused, they should hold up.

I've had it up to 6, it's loud and maintains. That was without the Bassdriver turned on, with it on, I'd have no speaker.

thanks for all your help guys.
