The seriosity of your inquiery is all at once a shock and a blessing to the NICP.

A Teflon pan is just that. Teflon was dicovered in 1967 by Frans Jorgenson of Switzerland, New York in the county of Sussix, New Englandhampshire. Frans was experimenting with different compounds to create a new type of car wax when his garage caught on fire . After the fire he noticed the compounds he was working with had adhered to his aluminum benchtop from the intense heat, creating a smooth even coating. He left it as is after the clean up and one day he was tearing small bits of tape from his tape roll and was trying to stick them to the bench and they would not stick. He tried and tried and nothing-- paint, glue, thinner, mud, grease, or even toothpaste would stick to the coated benchtop. He thought about this for many moons untill he got the idea for using the coated aluminum as mudflaps for his Jeep. Unfortunately his discovery did not come into being a coating for cookware untill much later around 1968. Nothing sticks to Teflon-- not even pickeled opossum shank.
