Hello- I am now going to try my first pictures post from my photobucket thing. I have a feeling this will be fun( it won't work.) I have made a copy from Brother Daves site telling me how to do this so>>>>>>>>>>>>>> here goes.........okay first problem=" brown image tool bar"- I do not have this so I will now just click on Img even though it is not brown. Okay so now I see {img}{/img}......... this tells me (the browser?) to fetch & display the photo stored offsite within the tag.==== Okay good enough. So here's the question I have "what actual thing do I do now?"---- BD's directions seem to be good-- step three says Copy the Direct link -- okay Copy the Direct link-- forgive me for being tech stupid but this kind of reminds me of opening up a Chineese TV box and reading the directions where it says "TO TURN ON TV-TURN ON TV" and there's no on/off button-- there is something secret I don't know.

Allrighty. I have my Fender Forum Topic started --- I know that my photobucket account is somewhere in cyberspace right now and I need to access it in order to do all the copying and whatnot... SO I'm wondering-- Do I minimize what I'm working on right here and go to photobucket?? Is that correct?? I kind of don't have confidence that if I minimize this screen right here that I won't loose it. That would suck because I've spent all this time trying to do this.

The question I will wait for an answer to is "what goes on between step 2 and 3 of brother Daves good directions.?" What physical movement or what button do I do to be able to do step 3 while I'm looking at my topic post on the Fender Forum Screen?

Hope I'm not being a pain but it's this kind of stuff that frustrates me about tech and comps and all the junk I just need to know to do what a third grader probubly already knows to do. Kind of makes me want to go smash a bass to pieces --ya know?

Thanks ,SV ( at least I can play a bass)

This part is easy enough. Assuming you're using Internet Explorer, go up to the File pull-down menu and click on New Tab. That allows you to click back and forth between sites without closing anything.

I just took a look at Brother Dave's tutorial. He explains the process well. I'll break it down a bit more.

Assuming you have images already re-sized and uploaded to Photobucket ...

I'd first of all follow my directions above and have two tabs open ... one with fender.com and one with photobucket. Using tabs you can quickly move back and forth between the sites.

Open a new post. Wherever you'd like your image, click the "Img" button. You'll see two blocked in "Img" tags.

Now go to Photobucket. Hover over your photo and click on "Direct Link". Assuming this works with your browser, just clicking on that should copy it.

Go back to the forum. Position your curser between the two blocked in tags (i.e. between the inner "]" and "["). Now paste the Photobucket link by typing "Ctrl-V" or just going up to the Edit pull-down and choosing "paste".

Assuming the code appears when you paste, try clicking on the "Preview" button at the bottom to see if the image appears. Hopefully, you'll have a "Presto!" moment. :D

that's contradictory, why don't you smash your computer instead, it'll give hours of time to practice...

Okay - in a little while I will make my 2nd attempt at posting pics --thank you soulfinger. I think I can do all the stuff you helped with. We'll see.

My biggest next problem will be sizing down my pics.---OH BOYYYYYY!!!!!!

Am I correct in understanding your pictures are already up on Photobucket? Or are you trying to get them there?

If your pictures are already there, the rest is easy. I suggest using two browser windows, not tabs, so you can go back and forth between Photobucket and the forum you want to post your pictures in, without losing sight of either one.

When you hover your cursor over the picture you want to copy, there will appear four code options below the picture. The bottom one is "IMG code".

All you have to do is click in that box, and it should automatically copy both the link and the image codes. Then, all you have to do is paste it in the forum post you're working on (right-click, paste). Easy. Then click on the forum's Preview, and you should see your picture.

If you have any questions about what it should look like, just find someone's post with a picture in it and click "Quote". That will give you the person's entire post including the image code.

Also, when you hover the cursor over the picture, immediately below the picture is a bar that says "Share|Edit|Delete|Move." Click on Edit. On the Edit page, you can resize and crop your photos. Make sure "Keep Proportions" is checked.

At that point, you can resize your picture either by typing in a new number (of pixels) in one of the "New Size" boxes, and it will automatically resize the picture. Or you can use percentages. Check the "Use Percentages" box, and then type in the appropriate number to shrink your photo. If you want it half as big, type 50. If you want it one fourth as big, type 25, etc. That's usually the way I prefer to do it, unless I want a specific size.

By the way, you can resize your photos without having to go to Photobucket to do it. If your computer has Windows, then you should have Paint. Open Paint, open your photo. Click on "Image." The second option is Resize/Skew. Click on that, and then enter the percentages you want to reduce your photo. (Be sure to enter the same number in both boxes, otherwise your picture will look strange.)

Not able to figure out the actual process in order of which tab to open when and how to go back and forth. This is not my thing. I need actual step by step starting with turning on the computor and then the actual order of what to do in steps-- like a 1st grader. I know that sounds computor illiterate so I guess I am. I am a failure as a person because I don't know my way around a computor-- just kidding!! The whole deal is not that important. It all goes back to the thing with Chineese directions = TO ADJUST EQ = ADJUST EQ. That's what it's like. It's cool though. I'll just go kill myself now--just kidding!! HA!!!! I will have someone - maybe our guitar player show me how to do it and then he can look at me like I'm a floater!!!! HA!

Ox fan and Sabre - you guys have been a great help but you know what they say about old Dogs. When I used to teach people how to drive Semi trucks ( 18 wheelers) it was very obvious that the older guys had a way harder time learning how to shift and back up as compared to guys in thier 20's. It was the old dog thing. Those old dudes would just grind the heck out of the gears. It would make me wince!!!! Right now I'm grindin' gears.

I think we should call the "The Thabre Therapy Thread",

You're letting all those childhood nightmares out into the open, that's a good thing. I consulted on that and my resident expert said it was good.
