Sorry if this is not the correct forum... So, it seems that a smaller scale bass would be easier to play because of less stretching of fingers... So why is it that more folks dont use a small scale bass ?

What are the disadvantages to using a small scale bass like a bullet ?

Well there's a few that come to mind, intonation across the fretboard is'nt easy to achieve, the strings are alot looser(shorter strings are a bit more loose compared most other basses that are long scale 34in etc..)although not overly hard to find, 34in scale dominates the preferred neck lenght making med sized strings a bit harder to find thus making them a bit higher priced.

There is a tonal difference but no disadvantage, just difference. I play short scale basses all the time along with my standard 34" scale basses.

I'd say it's hard to find one that sounds as good as the real deal like a Jazz or a P bass.
