...my new 62 AVRI should be here Monday (WOOT!) I already have a different pickguard to put on it (don't like torts). The new pickguard I have has no shielding on the back around the control & pickup cutouts, even though it's a genuine Fender replacement.

I know from previous experience with the Fender 62' pickups that they can be a little noisy for a P-bass. So I'm wondering if I'll need to add some shielding?

Has anyone used that specific 62' metal shield that Fender makes?

Or would copper shield tape on the back of the pickguard suffice?

All opinions welcomed.

since the split-coil is switched as a humbucker normally the bass doesn't need a shielding, watch out for correct wiring and high-mass grounding under the bridge, that should fix the thing...
