Hey, im mike!
Im new here and looking into picking up my first fender bass. Ive been playing almost 10 years and have owned some neat guitars.

Anyways. Ive got a line on a neat, older fender precision bass. Only problem is i cant find any info on the serial number. It reads on the head stock beside the logo: mnz 106757.
Its like a blueish green. White pickguard. Volume and tone knob. Black split p pickups and the jack beside them. The bridge is silve r but i think its broken, so a badass will fix that. The chrtome plate on the back of the bodu has no markings on it.

Anyone ever see one similar? I cant find any info on that serial but i did find an old auction selling a mexican tele with similar serial number.
Any other markings i should look for?

Any helps appreciated and the quicker the better as im going back this afternoon to probabally pick it up!

Thanks a bunch
mike

Wow! That was fast!

Thanks alot mike. You guys are a nice bunch here eh?

I was thinking mexican also. I think im gonna pick it up, and with the damaged bridge ill try to talk her down a bit more. She wants 149$ canadian so i figure ill throw her 100 and see if she bites. Could be a nice custom set up with some emgs and a badass bridge for cheap!

mnz1 plus 5 additional digits = Made at Fender Ensenada, Mexico between July 1 of 2001 and June 30 of 2002. I don't know why, but Guitar Dater Project says serial number is not recognized. But it fits the format.

Wow do i feel stupid! Turns out the serial number was mn2 106757.

So that would make it a 92?

She wont budge from 149(with a squire hardcase). so is that a worthwhile pickup? Do these sound any good?

I figure for under 400$, with mods, i could have a pretty sweet set up.

I am curious. What is it you like about EMG pickups and Badass bridges?--- Oh by the way hello Mike .

I need something to change my mind. I'm open to hope and change when it comes to bridges and pickups. That's why I ask the question "why"? I promise I won't write back about how much I think they blow or whatever.

I got it for 140 with the case:) wont be home till later tonight to plug er in and test it out. The bridge is in better condition than i thought one i got strings on it. One of the tuners might need to be replaced and i need a tone knob. Looks pretty straight to me. Strings dont rattle weird or nothing.

I called the shop i deal with and theyve got a badass 2 in stock but they would have to order the pickups.
He quoted me at 215 wich isnt bad at all.

Reason for picking the badass is from everything ive researched on he net it seems to be the most popular and well liked, for this bass. But as i stated before im new to fenders so im very open to reccomendations. Reason for changing is the stock ones not in the best of condition.

And for the emgs. I love the sound of the old terror albums and he was rocking this same set up. Sounded great. The quarter pounders sound pretty good too. But again im open to suggestions!

Again, thank you guys for the help! Ill try and post a pic of her when i get home
