Could you replace the tuners on a standard p bass with 75 reissue machine heads. Without much modification.? Thanks.

Unless the machine heads are slipping, broken or otherwise need repair, I'd leave it alone. If they definitely are shot then a full set of proper replacements is $40 versus $120 for the 1975 American Vintage set. The bushing diameter is the same on both sets, but you might have to drill some screw holes...or they could line up perfectly to the original holes. I don't have a set of either to check.
