Been playing this bass for years. I bought it in "85" for 250.00,was told then it was a 1972. The serial # 412624 indicates it to be a 1973. Is there any way to be sure? I have pics but do not know how to post them.

get an account in http://www.photobucket.com -upload pics there and copy the img-code (just by left-clicking in it) -go back to the post-window here , click "img" in the upper row, place the address in between the first square brackets -that's it...

the plastic underlay with the neckplate fits well with the '70s... a very nice one!
btw why do some of you use the female on basses, isn't bass a male noun?
i'm swiss, you know, and in german it is...

the bass= der bass/m
the bassguitar= die bassgitarre/f

I guess its just the way we talk here in Texas. Any inanimate object will likely be called a she.

ok, sounds a bit indifferent, -so a truck or a caterpillar e.g. is a she?

Most of us call, and even sometimes name our basses after women. No kidding!

In Fact, there's even a thread about that here:

i know the american tendency to exaggerate but this one goes really far to me...

what about mandy? it even got its own song... the lyrics fits so well!

Most Precision basses are thought to be male, most jazz basses are thought to be female. This assumption is made by the number of people I've spoken to directly and what I've encountered on these threads. It could be an American thing.

No one noticed how far off the intonation was in the pic? Your bridge needs to be adjusted,

yes, you're so right... and did you notice that the volume- and the tone-knob aren't right in turn, the red is too red in the 3tsb and there's no cable plugged!
al'n'all a pitoyable trim on that axe, maybe he better get himself a new one....

I'd say it's a 73 by the numbers I have in the "Bass Book" by Tony Bacon and Barry Morhouse. Also the thumbrest is on the treble side and that's where it would be if it were a 73. I have heard people say on here that some basses are a certain year but carry another year serial number-- I'm not sure about that though. I have always gone by the serial number as the year of the guitar even though it may have pot codes for 71-2- or 3.

Please intonate the bass- that's driving me nuts! :D or maybe it doesn't matter because you have flats on it!!! HA HA HA!!!!!!

Oh-- the underlay thing is a neck plate gasket. :D
