I thought seeing this bass with a natural ash body and a 3-ply white pickguard as mentioned a couple of months ago.

Finally Fender opted for Olympic White instead.

CBS never did P-Basses with tuxedo necks. Only J-Basses came with those fretboard cosmetics. Carl Radle used a sunburst Precision with a tuxedo Jazz neck.

Fender Japan produced 70's Precisions with tuxedo Jazz Bass necks for the Japanese domestic market a couple of years ago.

The 70's P-Bass should also be offered with an unlined fretless maple fingerboard and a natural ash body.

honestly if i recall correctly although it was in the p bass division of the website it was considered the '72 bass and never had p bass in it's name i honestly continue to believe that they were working on a 1972 tele bass... it has a p bass shape but it doesn't have the p bass name

Personally I don't care if it's "historically accurate" with the B n B neck, I like it. BTW, according to the specs I've read at Sweetwater.com,
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PBass70MOWT/
Although it looks like a 70's style Jazz bass neck, it is actually a standard P-bass width (1.625") neck. I like that idea.

I like it - both in white and in 3CSB.
