I've surfed on the Basses category from the products page and I've discovered that Fender is going to launch a pair of pawn shop precision basses, a sunburst rosewood-neck '72 and a natural maple-neck '70s. Currently there are no detailed description, specs and product images available.

i think the pawnshop maple-neck P would look like this:

or this:

where'd you see that?... i doubt they'll look like that for a simple reason the pawn shop series is about unrelased to the public guitars with huge physical changes to the guitar... but i'd like to see how it'll turn out :)

DANGIT! Now I might have to hold off on buying a P until we know what this is really going to be.

I think the pawnshop 1970s P-Bass will also be available either as fretless maple-neck (pictured), P/J with a 3-knob setup and top-mount jack or both (fretless maple-neck top-mount jack P/J).

I don't think the pawnshop '72 would resemble to a 2nd Generation Tele Bass. It would look much like a stock rosewood-neck '72 P-Bass with a tortise pickguard like this original 1972 P shown below.

Both basses come shipped with a gigbag.

don't agree dude it looks too stock to be a pawn shop series bass plus it's a terrible coincidence that squier had a 51 and the pawn shop series has a 51 and now there is going to be a 72 bass and it just so happens that squier has a 72 telebass and it happens to be a hybrid of many guitars as well i'm just saying it's likely to be my idea...

Tele basses were offered only with a maple fretboard.

The product page says PAWNSHOP '72 RW 3TS. No image product available yet, sorry if I'm unable to identify that bass.

In a few words, PAWNSHOP '72 RW 3TS means PAWNSHOP '72 PBASS RW (rosewood fingerboard) 3TS (3-tone sunburst).

Essentially it's a faithful replication of a stock sunburst rosewood neck Precision from 1972 with a tortoiseshell pickguard.

you do know that the tele bass is considered a p bass right? plus a telebass could have rosewood theoretically i don't think it'll be an everyday p bass

Is no one from Fender on this board? Can't someone just tell/show us what it's gonna be? Seems like Fender would use this forum as a test audience and sample group.

Tele Basses are CBS' own interpretations of the original '51 P-Bass. The '51 was available only with a maple fingerboard.

The only rosewood-neck '51-style Precision actually in production is the Mike Dirnt signature model.

Prior to the Mike Dirnt P-Bass was the early 1990's MIM Cowpoke hybrid, which combined design elements from three different basses (JP90, MIJ '51 RI, Precision Bass Plus Deluxe).

The prototypes for the Telecaster Bass were actually made with real spare parts from the neck, body, bridge, and sting ferrules right down to the reverse tuners. Then each individual component copied. Taking the electronics into consideration it was probably closer to a 52 probably the closest thing to a 52 ever made including Custom Shop output. The differences were all in the electronics and the pickup was in fact so close they changed the color of the over wrapping so you could tell them apart. So it was more than CBS's interpretation, it was as close as they could come to the original with what was in 1967/68 the modern manufacturing techniques of the day. The electronics were different such as the ceramic cap on the 1968 Telecaster Bass was not the cap used on the 51 or 52 models but was the cap used at the time on P and J-Basses.

The wait is over, the Classic Series '70s P-Bass is here!

Image

Available in 3-colour sunburst and olympic white, this faithful CBS-era recreation comes with a 1-piece maple neck/fretboard with classic Jazz Bass black binding and blocks.
