If anyone is looking for the Ripcord Bass cables with two STRAIGHT plugs they are some available here: http://www.audionerdusa.com/ripcord-bass-cable.html
They are sold out of the 90 degree plug type I use. They also had the speaker cables and guitar cables at one time but have sold out of those. They are worth it if you play a passive bass. You can A/B compare the Ripcord with any other cable I've tried and the Ripcord will win big every single time.

BrotherDave - I took your advice on a cable and got me a Mogawi. 25ft, gold jacks, lifetime, no quibble warranty. I'll post back when I have a chance to use it and with regards the crackling issue.
Thanks
Ant

Mogami's are good cables. I'm not a big believer in GOLD plating plugs though! I think usually it is a marketing ploy. I actually believe it adds an extra layer of resistance over the chromed steel or brass under the gold, but that is just me. I figure anything Radio Shack invented, (i.e. gold plated connectors) can't be all that good. The BEST sounding cables I have do NOT have gold plated anything. BUT, I've used the Mogami's and Canare's that do have gold plated connectors, I don't think the gold plating hurt them too much. But gold plated plugs are OVER-RATED to say the least. What I REALLY like about the Mogami cables the most is the natural way the slack lays on the floor. Can't say that about MONSTER BASS cables with their GOLD PLATED plugs either. Those MONSTER cables are like downed telephone trunks. STIFF and they tend to retain the shape in which you wrap them.
