I have had this bass for many years, and it was given as a gift sometime in the late 90's.
I'm trying to find out an approximate worth. Its all original to my knowledge except for a badass II bridge. It has a rosewood fingerboard and brown body.
Serial # is S862782. Made in USA.
Sorry for no pics, this is spur of the moment and getting basic feel, but I can post some over the weekend as needed.
Thanx !!!

Of course it is hard to estimate value on a 77/78 instrument without seeing photos. It is definitely player class due the modification. Put the original bridge back on if you have it even if it shows mars in the finish from where the aftermarket bridge was installed. Or you can buy a 77/78 bridge for 200 to 300 dollars.

The final value (when it is sold) will vary depending on originality, condition, included accessories such as the original case and case candy, documentation, your location and the local market. You don't state where you are located but prices are higher anywhere outside the USA and in USA music center cities like Los Angeles, Nashville, NYC, etc. Prices are lower in economically distressed areas like Detroit. Lately final values have been rising everywhere on vintage instruments after not only stagnating, but actually falling for a while. So the old adage "the longer you keep it the more it will be worth" is once again true, where two years ago it actually wasn't.

Here in the Carolinas a 77/78 P-Bass would range from 850 to 2,100 depending on condition. I'd say an "average" going price for an all-original one with normal wear to be around $1,300 with original case. A vintage dealer would give you about half of that for it then turn around and price it for precisely twice what they gave you. Take it to a shop that sells vintage stuff and see what they offer you. But do not sell it to them. Instead double their offer and that is approximately what you should ask for it in a private sale. In negotiations with potential buyers I would not discount it more than about 15% from double what the dealer offered for it.

Modifications hurt value a lot. How much hurt depends on how much the buyer wants a bass with those mods. But a vintage dealer is gonna knock off at least $300 for the non-original bridge even on an otherwise mint 77/78 P-Bass.

OOPS, just saw in the title slug that it is fretless, so add $200 as those are scarcer.
