I would say good luck and if you have never done refinishing and relicing before you should read up alot on it. Then think real hard about not doing it yourself. BUT (disclaimer) one has to start somewhere. It would be best to practice on a guitar that can be sacrificed to the cause.

On making a guitar look like it's worn without playing it much-- OH BOY- you opened up a can-o-worms on that. There are so many opinions and ideas on that subject!!! I think the most common way that absolutley blows is to take a sander and start hacking all over the guitar-- NOT GOOD.

It takes some real study and time to do a good looking artist style relic job on a guitar. It is not easy to do what-so-ever ( I don't care what anyone says).
A good job involves chemicals that need to be handled by experianced people.
(disclaimer) I'm not saying you are not experianced. A good relic job costs money. Anyone can take sandpaper and a set of keys and hit a guitar with them. I saw a video of a guy who took his guitar out in the parking lot and threw it down and kicked it around for awhile-- what a Lummux!!!!!! Bet you haven't heard that word!!! :D
