O.K., now I'm confused. If someone could help me get the facts straight.

1. Why does Rez have "Cindy" tattooed on his back?

2. Did Glenn trade in Elektra and name his new bass "Cindy"?

3. Is "Cindy" stalking Mike?

4. Why am I sitting here at 3:55 A.M. trying to figure out this "Cindy" thing?

Good night Cindy. :?

Although I am the hairiest Asian you'll ever meet, I don't have a back full of hair (yet  ) And, with me not liking heat too much...that pic above makes me hate where you and fjbass live - at this moment

The Special was considerably heavier than the Standard, which I liked a lot, It was a lot heavier than my FSR MIM Precision and almost as heavy as my VM Jazz. The finish on the bodies was great on both.

Hardware on the Standard was better.

Standard had more power, nothing to really say the Special was weak, because it wasn't.
I ran identical settings on the amp, played the Special at 7/8, 1/2 on the Standard.

Tone? Both of them performed admirably, both had great thump, both had the high end, the Standard came out ahead on highs, probably because of the bridge.

Rosewood was a lot nicer on the Standard, it had a real nice grain and was just nicer.

Fit and finish were both good, except for the necks they both were good.

IMO, if I could get a Standard with the weight and heft of the Special, that would be my next bass, Candy Apple Red with a Maple neck.
Ox

What are the differences in the necks?

I don't know why there would be a substantial weight difference between the Standard and Special. Your FSR MIM is ash so it is going to be lighter than alder. Your Squier is possibly a laminated body and that adds weight as the wood composite board at the core is very heavy.

What colors were they? I personally would doubt the bridge is the reason for more highs on the Standard. The output disparity tells us that the electronics are not as good on the one with lower output. Better or lighter wood and a better pickup would account for most of that, the high mass bridge would add sustain but should not otherwise alter the voicing of the instrument much at all.

Thanks for your report Oxyron. I don't know how this train got off the tracks. But it made for amusing reading this afternoon.

The neck on the Special was a bit wider and thinner than the Standard. As far as weight, my VM soft maple and has some good weight to it. The Standard is light and balanced very well. Actually, the Special appeared to be a little bigger in the body than the Standard, I had my son-in-law with me and used him as an unbiased judge. He liked the sound of both of them and, he liked the Standard a lot more. The finish on the Special was flat and the Stamdard was sleek.

Brother Dave, this train went off the tracks around 9:00 last night, it's all Rez's fault, he has this obsession with somebody named Cindy.

As far as me being up at all hours of the night, I rarely sleep more than 4 hours at a crak, too may years of working stupid shifts and overtime.

Was Cindy in one of the pictures, Mike? And please, don't put that picture of Rez on here again.

Reminds me of an old song.

"THE FIRST TIME I SAW CINDY
SHE WAS STANDING AT THE DOOR
HER SHOES 'N STOCKINGS IN HER HAND
HER CLOTHES ALL OVER THE FLOOR

GET ALONG HOME CINDY, CINDY
GET ALONG HOME CINDY, CINDY
GET ALONG HOME CINDY, CINDY
I'LL MARRY YOU SOMEDAY"

We're headed for a PG rating. That was very nice Brother Dave, set our toes to tappin'.

Now, let's put all this to rest once and for all.

1. Is "Cindy" in Florida with Zod?

2. Is "Cindy" in Florida filing harassment charges against Rez?

3. Is "Cindy" the reason I spelled OPINION wrong?

4. Is "Cindy" going to haunt this forum forever?

5. Damn "Cindy".

Tune in again when all these, and a whole lot more questions will be answered by;

A hairy Asian
A sleep deprived senior member of the Forum
A well rounded adviser of all thing bass, who sings quite well.
A Floridian who always says it best with pictures.
A Floridian who is due to tell us of the new bass and amp he just traded for.

Cue the organ music, fade to black.
