He'll always be high on the list of under appreciated bassists. Very few realize his contributions to Queen and music in general.

Deacon was pivotal to the motion in the group's sound and he used a variety of styles. Yes he is a good amp designer, especially famous is the amp he designed as Brian May's recording rig which ran off a car battery. It was dubbed the Deacy amp by May. Vox tried to copy it and make it run off AC and sold it for a while as the Brian May Special Recording amp, but it wasn't exactly the same. They were quite popular anyway.

Essential element with Queen. Excellent bassist.

If I'm correct, Brian May still uses the amps he designed. Accomplished songwriter too.

Maybe he uses the Deacy to record, but whenever I see him play it is like 6 or 8 Vox AC30's stacked.

John Deacon is one of the greatest bassists ever. I don't know why he doesn't get more recognition.

I saw Queen in Boston in 1982 and was amazed by the musicianship of the entire band. It still ranks as one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Freddie was not only a great singer and musician, he was an incredible entertainer.
