For a guy who played mostly Precisions, he gets so little mention. He wrote some of the most recognizable riffs ever and was a great bassist.

He retired from music altogether after playing one last show to honor Freddie Mercury.

Rumor has it, he has a lie of amps coming out, Brian May uses his amps.

He was a great bassist. I love the rockabilly lines in Crazy Little Thing called Love.

Yes, great bassist and very little recognition when "name the top bassist of all time" questions surface.

The other guys in the band overshadowed him so much -- it was just the way it was. He is super tight, has great sound, and played in one of the Worlds most popular bands for a very long time. I bet he's just fine with that. I would be!!! HA!

He is a very introverted person. I remember a documentary on Queen, where the late Freddy Mercury said, now I'm paraphrasing here, "we encourage him to write so much so he gets just as much royalties as the others in the band, he's so shy in bringing stuff the the band, when he does, it's always such a great bass line we always end up writing songs from it." Or something like that :)

Keep Yourself Alive and the others on that album just blew us all away. Once they hit the airwaves it was total big time for them. At least around here it was. Everybody had that album. It got played on a record player on full blast. That was the best way to listen to them. The had a cool "look" also.

You can list all their songs and always have someone agree that they were one of the greats.

John Deacon was incredible.

I used to have one of the early first Queen album. The name Queen was in goldleaf lettering. Any way in the band members listing they called him " DEACON JOHN". Maybe cause he was so shy? I saw queen many times in cleveland ohio. They played at "Music Hall" twice in one night on thier 1st american tour. I saw both shows. WHAT A GREAT BAND, live or on record. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN........

John's playing was class and a half, many a listen to queen stuff for inspiration, great player to watch live to as the man could groove and move when he wanted, great sound as well, pick or fingers he embraced all aspects (the best way to in my book, why limit yourself) Big fan here.
