The serial# and neck plate screws look odd to me. I say fake but I could be wrong

First pic - string tree in wrong place, fenders' are alot closer to the A string post.
Wrong decal; P-bass never has an "offset countour body" decal.

Second pic - serial number location in the wrong place. looks like MIM tuners.

Last pic - body looks really weird shaped. pg "corners" on top side of neck, lower horn, and output jack are too rounded.

I didn't know that you bought it, i thought that you were looking to buy it.

The "TV" logo was on the headstocks from around '69 thru '79 I believe. Fender has been putting them on the Highway Ones since 2006 and now the American Specials.
The offset contour body was a feature of Jazz basses, and would appear on Jazz headstocks.
In your first pic from the op, the string tree looks way closer to be inline with the E post than A post, but the last pic looks different. The newer pics show how the tree kinda stays within the A post "line".
In the full bass pic on the op, the body looks funny. The pg doesn't flow and curve above the E string quite right, and the control part looks wider.

Got any more pics?

Hopefully brotherdave or anyone else can add to this.

Have you taken it apart? Pulled the neck?

More pics will help.

I'd like to see neck pocket photos and neck heel/paddle photos.

I do know that this was not an American Standard color in 1999. There were no REDS at all that year. The USA DELUXE P-Bass however WAS available in this color or one very similar as I'm looking at one right now. See through red. So this being a FSR bass is not out of the question, but read on.

The bass in question has the CBS 70's era curved logo with the huge PRECISION BASS.

Looking at a known genuine 99 American Standard P-Bass neck, I'm seeing the STRAIGHT Spaghetti FENDER logo decal with no curve or patent numbers which has "PRECISION BASS" in straight black block lettering and "MADE IN USA" in tiny block lettering under the "FENDER" logo. On the back of the real 99 neck the serial is in the common central location, not the tip location. The tip location was used for a while when USA production resumed after FMIC bought Fender from CBS. I agree with Zod that "CONTOUR BODY" is also wrong. The "CONTOUR BODY" is often added on by creators of reproduction decals, sometimes twice to fill up the decal material's available area and many forgers don't know better than to not put one or even both of them on.

I agree with Zod that the pickguard horn contours look wrong but the screw locations appear correct so it could be a perspective or angle issue with that photo.

I'm leaning toward fake without neck pocket and neck paddle/heel photos mainly because the decal is all wrong for a 99 American Standard. So unless it is a FSR or perhaps a previous owner liked and applied the CBS era reproduction decal, you have a parts bass.

The TV logo was originally used between 1969 and 1976.

That string tree and tuners are wrong for a USA bass of this age.

The polyurethane coated headstock has too much finish and it should be finished in lacquer if it is a real USA made Fender. It is not a USA bass.

I think it may be a Chinese made copy. They are now copying all kinds of American guitars and basses and marking them as made in the USA.

I had a Mexican Jazz with that exact color and wood and finish. If that helps-- I think it was a 2005. A special run.
