I just laid away a highway one P-bass, and I just noticed that Fender, has a "new" American standard P-bass? I knew they updated the p-bass last year with the added s-1 switch, (which i did to my p-bass, back in the 70's, which wasn't recommended by Fender, back then). Anyway, I know there's still a standard p-bass, that is Mexican built, (correct?), so now, we have a new American standard P-bass. Now, Between the highway one, The american standard, and just the standard, which one is better? And, how about the price of the standard, vs. the american standard? Now, don't get me wrong, I love Fender basses, and The P-bass is "my" bass, but in a way, isn't there too many models of my beloved P-bass, to choose from? I can understand why Leo, only made and P-bass and a J-bass, which really was his deluxe model of the P-bass, back in the day. Most people may have read the story about the history of the P-bass, and The J-bass, and then the sale of Fender to CBS, then Fender, going back of being Fender again. I understand, there's a different market now, since back in the day, but one thing is certain, a Fender bass will sale regardless, of all the other models on the market, but Fender today, can we get it right? I'll write another topic to get my point across

I have a Highway One P-bass. Got it about 2 months ago. I enjoy playing it, I am happy with my purchase. I wanted to get a P-bass and had looked at either getting a MIM or MIA. I went down to the local music store and played around with both of those for an afternoon. Wasn't too fond of the Hwy One at first(prior to playing it), but its nitro finish kinda drew me in. Plus the bridge says "Bad $@!" on it. It is something different. As far as which one is better, that's all up to you. Some like the MIM, some the Hwy One, some the MIA, some none at all. So with all the different versions of the P and J, I think that there is such a variety that the person who wants a Fender can hopefully find their instrument of choice. Also, there are so many other bass companies to choose from nowadays.
