Hello everyone. I came across a USA made Precision with J&P Fender Lace Pickups. It has a toggle switch, tone and volume knobs, and a push button that the guy at the shop was some kind of mid-boost. They have a hell of a price on it and I'm thinking of going to get it tomorrow but wanted see if anyone knew anything about them. From what I can tell, it is about a 93 model. Thanks.

The bass you're talking about is a Precision Bass Plus, aka "Boner P-Bass" because of the longer upper horn. The Boner Precision was among the first 22-fret USA-made Fender basses developed by George Blanda in 1989.

The 22-fret neck required a larger body and longer cutaways in order to fit properly.

The push-push selector isn't a mid-boost switch; it's a series-parallel button for the neck pickup. Other notable features included a 3-way pickup toggle selector, a TBX tone circuit and an Elite bridge with fine tuners.

Thanks for the reply. I can pick it up for $480 out the door. What do you think?

I do not have an opinion. But you can decide yourself if $480 is really a good deal to purchase this bass.

Any other details about the colour and the fretboard material? I guess that you're opting for a blueburst maple-neck model. FYI the maple-neck blueburst Boners are by far the most popular.

I think that represents a pretty fair price for any USA made Fender.

You had better get back there and buy it because as soon as you post something about a bass, the vultures will descend on it and it will be gone!

Take some pictures and post them here via Photobucket or some other free site.

Good luck with the bass if you get it!

$480 out the door without the cops being called is a NO-BRAINER.
This bass is going for 1200 to 1500 on the westcoast.....700 to 1100 eastcoast.
Can I BUY IT?

A BONER bass? Really? No big markdowns for damage, abuse or neglect? Might bring $1700 here. Really. No kidding.
