I have a Precision Special Deluxe and I am thinking about switching pickups. I think I am leaning towards the EMG PJX set. I am also considering Seymour Duncan's SPB-3 and SJB-3. I personally like very heavy bass, less mids, mid treble. Any ideas, tips, suggestions?

Didn't you post this already on a different thread?

I am for the EMG's but it's a bias opinion ;)
What kind of music do you play? I play a lot of Hardocore/metal stuff, it's perfect for it, no noise/hum. Just sound of the bass :) I can still adjust my sound thru the head when I'm alone and playing some jazz and funk tho.

Yeah, I posted this in the pickups and accessories. It was suggested that I post here. I agree, more eyeballs=more feedback.

I play a lot of metal/hard rock, whatever you want to call it. Big Steve Harris fan. I do love a good dub session, as well. I've been playing for about 25 years, all with my fingers. Love running the strings.

Arry is the guy that brought me to pick up the bass! His sound is from the quarter pounders IIRC. Plus the older stuff he used Trace Elliot. Best amp I've ever had, regretted getting rid of it. We're into the same stuff. EMG takes a long time to order, unless you order from the online retailers of course. There is a video with the JVX install on you tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3-uPgqcHuo

I have the WILDE PICKUPS BY BILL LAWRENCE P/J set. I like it but I play old school stuff and it could be totally wrong for you. Very authentic vintage tone, very well balanced output. Instead of Volume/Volume/Tone controls these pickups are suggested to be wound Volume/Blend/Tone. Each pickup has 3 leads and accomplishes the BLEND function using a standard pot so a stacked or ganged pot is not required. Wiring diagram included. You will need an additional capacitor something like .022 or .018. These are NOT the "BILL LAWRENCE PICKUPS." They are new design pickups called "WILDE PICKUPS BY BILL LAWRENCE." They are on this page of his site: http://www.wildepickups.com/Bass_Pickups.html
They are $124.
Good luck in your tone quest.
