Might be too that 30+ years ago, basses were made a bit better.

Gotta say all the pictures are great, especially the fretless ones.

back in college I played a used Carvin bass with a tremollo...man the guys there must've been annoyed since they never tune the thing - to be fair, it went out of tune as soon as you touch the whammy bar, LOL!

This is exactely what i'm looking for. Found an fsr jazz. Where did you get the neck? I've found plenty of lined / unlined rosewood, ebony, or ebanol p and j necks. I would like to find an unlined maple p neck like this and fit it to the jazz.

I ordered it from Warmoth.

Thanks for the reply. I was on their site before but I never "custom built" anything. Prices seem in line and I never heard anything bad about them.

It's a nicely made neck, and it fits tightly in the neck pocket. The bass has zero issues, other than the obvious one that I don't give it much playing time. I'm doing some new material now and that may allow me to whup it out.

Warmoth was very helpful, and even concerned that I was ordering exactly what I wanted (I got the chunky P nut width, which I guess is unusual). They installed and cut the nut, and it's perfect. They also finished it -- the bass hasn't really gotten enough use to know whether that'll be an issue.
