I hate to admit it but, I played in a polka band when I was 15. I had my Coral (made by Danelectro) bass and my Randall amp. I really don't know much about the amp, it was a piece of $%&*.

It seemed all the bass players in polka bands used Ampeg flip tops and were nice enough to let me use theirs. We would play at this huge hall and there were always 3 or 4 bands. Man, did I suck. I had no clue as to what i was doing.

Golden memories.

I wonder if Zod could come up with a picture of Brother Dave in his stage outfit?

Back in the day, there were a bunch of them in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. It had the typical Danelectro pups and it had regular guitar tuners , it was a pain to change strings.

Very nice. Now I have two questions:

1. Have you named it?

2. What has the wife had to say about your obsession with it?

Congrats on the wife making S. I. I named it, Thor, Thunder Of The Gods. It pounds, and puts out such a great sound. My wife is saying nothing more than the usual. Status quo here. I've taken a fair amount of photos of it. But with lousy lighting, the black on black don't show well. Too much light, and you see the glare from the reflections off of the finish. Sorry guys. It did come in a Fender Deluxe Gig Bag. I ordered the Fender/SKB Case that I picked up today. I feel a lot better having it in the hard shell case. Kinda' like the dog and his bone on that insurance TV commercial.

Good name, it suits. Wives just don't understand the relationship between a man and his bass. B.B. King always made it clear to his wives, that's why he had so many.

It's always remarkable when you get your hands on a bass that "fits". I've had the experience and know the feeling.

I never went in for the Artist Series Basses myself. It looks an feels like an MIA P Bass. You can see on the photo of the back of the head, the R. W. signature is out of the way, and doesn't stand out. I never thought I'd like the wider fretboard like I do this one. It's improved my playing. It forced me to reposition my thumb on the back of the neck. My speed has increased, hitting cleaner notes, and less stress on the thumb and hand. Some old dogs do learn new tricks some days.

I'm looking at this bass for the same reason. My H-1 Jazz is nice, but lately it feels too "small" by the headstock. It sounds like you like it, does it rip?

Hi,

Really, really lovely bass.

Is the pickguard matte or shiny, gloss black?

It's really hard to tell from the promo' (and your) photos.
