My GAS for 2011 is an American Standard PB olympic white maple neck...
problem: can not see it on catalog products any more, just rosewood!! Did Fender discontinued this reference or not?
Still available at some shops and not mentionned as discontinued...strange!

Perhaps you're looking for this bass:

Fender dropped a couple of finishes on certain models. Recently, the Clapton signature Strat lost Candy Green, a colour which was OEM standard since its inception in 1988.

That's it...you mean they dropped this finish? Wonder why, this is quite a "standard".

Not necessarily the finish. :)

Over the years, Fender discontinued a lot of options on many models. For example, the 2004-2009 US Deluxe P-Bass came initially with both rosewood and maple fretboards on the Chrome Silver-finished models. Around 2005/06 Fender dropped the rosewood neck option. Subsequently, all Chrome Silver-finished US Deluxe P-Basses produced after late 2005 were available only with a maple fingerboard.

As for the Olympic White 4-string US Standard basses (P and J), both were offered with both rosewood and maple fingerboards for about 2 years before the maple neck option on these models being discontinued in 2011.

If you look on the Jazz Bass product page, you'll notice that the Olympic White US Standard Jazz Bass Maple Neck is also no longer listed.

Perhaps the Olympic White Maple Neck Precision was discontinued because Fender is probably going to add Sienna Sunburst as a "replacement" finish for this particular model. Sienna Sunburst was never offered on an American Standard bass, only on guitars.

OK then I will try to deal with these changes!
Bad luck, the new American Special series does not offer maple neck on OW neither...

A big chat here in France is: " why such a low price on these American Special series if they are US made as announced"? Some specs are a bit different (bridge etc...) but the price is really lower than Am Standard, near Mexican series price!!

The maple fingerboard is available only on Candy Apple Red and Black.

Personally I like the Olympic White US Standard Basses with rosewood fretboards. They look even better with chrome ashtray bridge/pickup covers and a thumbrest.

At this moment, Hwy 1 and US Special basses are only available in a 4-string fretted version.

Maybe Fender will add fretless and 5-string versions as well to respond to the demands of bassists who want a fretless or 5-string US-made Fender bass without spending too much money for a more expensive American Standard.

If you really want Olympic White and Sunburst with a maple neck, just replace the stock rosewood with a maple one from a Black or Candy Apple Red P or J-Bass.

You can eventually do the reverse thing for Candy Apple Red and Black if you desire having these basses with a rosewood neck.

I really would hesitate by replacing a neck the way you propose...I like keeping instruments with their former parts and integrity. Finish of neck is not such a problem for me, I would perfectly go with a rosewood. But I really want OW! (probably my old Dee Dee Ramone fan side!!)
My personnal colour chart is quite simple: black/sunburst/white. The only exception is my Squier Classic Vibe PB in sonic blue (really love it, fine bass)

I remember when Fender did all sorts of custom colors.

They also had the special Telecaster Basses with Pink Paisley and the Blue Flower finishes. And who could forget Antigua?

They charged extra for the custom colors but you had quite a variety at one time.
